Sick Leave Bank (SLB. The purpose of a sick leave bank is for participating bargaining unit members to access sick leave days beyond their own accumulated balance anytime throughout this negotiated agreement. The SLB is limited to catastrophic illness or injury to the member, the member’s spouse or member’s children living at home.
Sick Leave Bank (SLB. The purpose of the sick leave bank program is to provide income protection for employees to the extent listed during periods of involuntary absence due to personal illness or disability prior to the time an individual may otherwise apply for long-term disability as referenced in Article 19. A. The Board in 1975-76 contributed 145 days after which the Association will furnish days assessed from the (10) days granted to each teacher. Personal business leave days are retained by teachers who are utilizing days awarded by the SLB or while on long-term disability. Also, teachers may elect to convert personal business leave days to accumulated sick days at the initiation of use of days awarded by the SLB. The bank shall be administered by the Association to determine those eligible for withdrawal and shall function according to the provisions as outlined by the LEA in their bylaws, website and any other document deemed necessary by the union. Sick Leave Bank (SLB. The Sick Leave Bank (SLB) is to solely provide insurance against extended catastrophic illness in the interim between teacher-accumulated sick leave and disability insurance coverage. The SLB will be administered by the OEA. The OEA will be solely responsible for administering the SLB in accordance with the purpose for which it is established. A monthly accounting of the use of days in the SLB will be provided to the OEA by the Administration. In order to be eligible to draw from the SLB a Teacher will: • be an active contributor to the SLB • present a doctor's certification of continuing illness* • have used all of the Teacher’s accumulated sick leave • have had deducted from the Teacher’s pay five (5) days of teaching salary • be limited to drawing from the SLB until the Teacher becomes eligible for disability insurance benefits as provided by the District, and • be limited to withdraw a maximum of fifty (50) working days in any one (1) school year. The SLB may be used for illness defined as pregnancy as required by Federal law. All Teachers covered by the Agreement will be enrolled in the SLB and will donate two (2) days upon enrollment. New Teachers will be automatically enrolled and will donate two (2) days upon hire. If the SLB Committee determines additional days are necessary for the upcoming school year, each member will contribute an additional day at the start of the subsequent school year. A retiring teacher may contribute up to 50 days to the SLB at retirement. A Teacher may opt out of the SLB by so indicating in writing directed to the attention of the chairperson of the SLB Committee by December 15, 2015. Opting out of membership, regardless of reason, prohibits enrollment to the SLB at any future date. A participant of the SLB who leaves his/her certified position with the District, and is rehired within twelve (12) calendar months of leaving shall be considered a member of the SLB upon his/her return. If the gap in employment exceeds twelve (12) months, the individual must contribute one (1) day in order to re-join the SLB. Sick Leave Bank (SLB. Summary The purpose of the SLB is to provide eligible employees, who have exhausted all of their accumulated paid leave (excluding Personal Days) and would otherwise be on unpaid leave, the means of obtaining additional paid sick days upon proper approval. The SLB allows eligible employees time to be restored to health so that they may return to work. It is not the intent of the SLB to provide additional days off for elective surgery. Usage of SLB must be for a member’s personal illness and not for the illness of family members. SLB will only be granted for circumstances that initially require five or more full days of consecutive absence. Sick Leave Bank (SLB. 1. Effective September 1, 2000, all Unit II employees on active duty in Allegany County are eligible to participate in the Allegany County Sick Leave Bank, hereafter referred to as SLB, by donating the required number of days. However, no unit member shall be required to participate. Bargaining unit members may use these days for prolonged catastrophic, incapacitating personal illness, injury or quarantine of the Unit II employee during regular scheduled duty days. The primary purpose of the SLB is intended to help an employee with a prolonged serious illness or accident which requires the usage of available personal illness days and leaves the employee without the necessary personal illness days to carry her/him over to eligibility for Long Term Disability Insurance.
Sick Leave Bank (SLB. The SLB is a joint Police and Association management committee administering grants of paid leave from the SLB to staff who have exhausted their sick leave entitlement in the interests of staff. In ratifying this Agreement, Association members are agreeing to use their individual leave to fund the SLB’s operation and the decision to participate is irrevocable. The Commissioner may grant, or with committee agreement decline to grant, SLB paid leave at ordinary hourly rate to an employee. Occasionally Police, with concurrence of the Association, will drawdown annual leave and employees entitled under these provisions agree to participate in a drawdown to fund the SLB. Employees with more than 12 month’s service will forfeit up to four hours leave as required. This is deducted from their annual leave entitlement and the total number of hours will be credited to the SLB. If an employee’s annual leave entitlement would be affected by the drawdown to below the statutory minimum entitlement then another form of leave is deducted in substitution. No reduction of the statutory minimum entitlement will be made.
