ARTICLE DESIGNATED HOLIDAYS. Four and six-tenths percent (4.6%) of regular straight time pay, not including vacation pay, shall be added to the member's regular pay to compensate for designated holidays. When any of the above-named holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Board shall designate an alternate day as the day of observance of such holiday and it is agreed that any premium payable for working on a designated holiday shall not apply to such Saturday or Sunday. Every member who is required to work on a day so designated as a holiday shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half for the so worked in addition to the payment specified in clause above.

ARTICLE DESIGNATED HOLIDAYS. (a) Every member shall be entitled to the following statutory holidays during the of this Collective Agreement: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day In addition to the holidays provided in (a) above, every member who has completed six months service on June of any year shall on that date have credited to lieu time bank one day’s credit at straight time (i.e. eight hours or seven hours, as the case may be) and every member who has completed six months service on October of any year shall on that date have credited to lieu bank one day‘s credit at straight time similarly calculated, such time in each case to be used in accordance with the lieu time provisions of the Collective Agreement. A member to qualify for payment of holidays in (a) and above must be in receipt of some salary including sick pay under clause in respect to the two clear calendar months immediatelypreceding such holiday. When any of the above-named holidays falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the Friday preceding or the Monday succeeding such holiday shall be designated by the Board as the day of observance of such holiday and it is agreed that any premium payable for working on a designated holiday shall not apply to such Saturday or Sunday. Every member who is not required to work on a day so designated as a holiday shall be entitled to and shall be paid regular rate of pay for each designated holiday not so worked. Every member who is required to work on a day so designated as a holiday shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half for the time so worked and, in addition, shall be granted the option of being paid for a day at regular rate of pay or receiving a day off in lieu thereof to be taken at a time agreed upon between the member and Unit Commander. Lieu time may be taken as a part of a day or as a whole day.
ARTICLE DESIGNATED HOLIDAYS. The following days shall be observed as designated holidays : New Year's Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Holiday Labour Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Boxing Day An employee who has completed their probationary period shall receive holiday pay at their regular straight time rate of pay exclusive of premiums for the number of straight time hours which, but for the holiday, the employee would have been normally scheduled. Regularly scheduled hours worked in your home department on a designated holiday will be counted for the purpose of determining eligibility for premium pay. In order to be eligible for payment for such holiday pay the employee must work their last full regularly scheduled shift immediately before the holiday and their first full regularly scheduled shift immediately after the holiday. For the purposes of this article only, the following will apply: An employee who is less than fifteen (15) minutes late for shift, either immediately preceding or following a holiday will be considered to have worked the entire shift and be eligible for the holiday pay. An employee who is late or absent from work the shift either immediately preceding or following a holiday as a result of an act of God i.e. snow storms, car accidents, etc., who provide documentation acceptable to the Company, will be considered to have worked the entire shift and be eligible for the holiday pay. employee who is fifteen (15) minutes or more late, or is absent from work due to illness will not be entitled to holiday pay for any reason. Employees who are in receipt of weekly indemnity or benefits and as a result have not worked their regularly scheduled shift immediately before a holiday and/or their first full regularly scheduled shift immediately after the holiday will receive holiday pay during their first twelve (12) months of absence from work. An employee who is required to work on any of the holidays listed in Article hereof shall be paid for each such hour worked on such holiday at the rate of one and one-half times his regular straight time rate of pay, and in addition shall receive the holiday pay provided for herein. Where a designated holiday falls on a non-working day for an employee or during their vacation, the employee shall receive the holiday pay provided for herein but shall not receive another day off as a designated holiday. ARTICLE DESIGNATED HOLIDAYS. Subject to sub-clause the following days shall be designated as holidays with pay for employees: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, the day fixed by proclamation of the Governor in Council for celebration of the Sovereign's Birthday, Canada Day, Labour Day, the day fixed by proclamation of the Governor in Council as a general day of Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and one additional day in each year that, in the opinion of the Council, is recognized to be a provincial or civic holiday in the area in which the employee is employed or in any area where, in the opinion of the Council no such day is recognized as a provincial or civic holiday, the first Monday in August, and one additional day when proclaimed by an Act of Parliament as a National Holiday. An employee who is absent without pay on both full working day immediately preceding and on full working day immediately following a designated holiday is not entitled to pay for the holiday. Holiday Falling on a Day of Rest When a day, except Boxing Day, designated as a holiday under clause coincides with an employee's day of rest, the holiday shall be moved to the employee's first normal working day following day of rest. Boxing Day shall be observed on the first normal working day immediately following the calendar day on which Christmas Day is granted as a designated holiday. When a day designated as a holiday for an employee is moved to another day under the provisions of sub-clause work performed by an employee on the day from which the holiday was moved shall be considered as work performed on a day of rest, and work performed by an employee on the day to which the holiday was moved, shall be considered as work performed on a holiday.

Each nurse will be scheduled a minimum of four (4) consecutive days off at either Christmasor New Year's as per her request. Every effort will be made to provide a fifth (5th) consecutive day off at this time. Time off at Christmas shall include Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Time off at New Year shall include New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. A nurse will not be scheduledto work both Christmas and NewYear's unless she has requested same. All requests for Christmas and New Years' block will be submitted in writing. Requests will be granted based on preference, what was worked the previous year, and with the aforementioned having been satisfied, seniority shall prevail. A nurse shall receive premium pay for all hours worked that are in violation of the above. A nurse, including part-time and relief nurses, required to work on one of the holidays listed in Article shall be paid at time and one-half (1.5) her regular straight time hourly rate of pay.
