The Remembrance Day clause designates November 11th as a recognized holiday within the context of the agreement. This means that if any obligations, such as work or delivery deadlines, fall on Remembrance Day, they may be postponed or adjusted according to the terms set out in the contract. The core function of this clause is to ensure that parties are aware of and respect the statutory holiday, preventing misunderstandings or disputes regarding work expectations or deadlines on that day.
Remembrance Day. The Employer agrees to allow Employees 2 minutes of silence at 11:00 a.m. on Remembrance Day each year.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation shall be observed on the day it falls and will not be moved for observance when the Holiday falls outside of an employee’s regular work week. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is the only Holiday that this practice applies. Should the Federal or Provincial government proclaim another Statutory Holiday, Parties to the agreement will meet to determine the new holiday’s application for observance.
Remembrance Day. The observance of Remembrance Day in Manitoba is subject to the provisions of the Remembrance Day Act, and shall be observed on the day it occurs. Therefore, employees shall receive pay for the holiday if Remembrance Day is observed on a normal working day. If Remembrance Day is declared a school holiday by the Minister of Education, other than November 11, the employees shall be eligible to receive the holiday. However, if the schools are open for a portion of the day, the employees will be required to be on duty for that period of time. The remainder of the day will be observed as the holiday.
Remembrance Day. Employees who can verify that they have served in the Canadian Armed Forces, and those in the Reserve components of the Canadian Armed Forces, who have served in a foreign country, will be eligible for time off with pay or payment if required to work on Remembrance Day.

If another Federal, Provincial or Municipal holiday should be proclaimed during the term of this Agreement, such additional proclaimed holiday will replace one of the above named holidays as agreed by the parties. The intent is that there will be no more than twelve (12) paid holidays per calendar year for the duration of this agreement.
