ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. For the purpose of this Agreement, the following days shall be recognized as paid holidays for employees who have completed their probationary period under this Agreement except as otherwise specified by the Standards Act and provided that the employee qualifies under this Article New Day Good Friday Labour Day Day Victoria Day Canada Day (July 1st) Civic Holiday Christmas Day Boxing Day In order to qualify for holiday pay, an employee must work his full work day immediately preceding such holiday and full work day immediately following such holiday unless excused in writing from doing so by the Employer. An employee who is required to work on a paid holiday shall be paid for authorized work performed on such day at the rate of one and one-half times (1 his regular straight time hourly rate for all hours worked and in addition, provided he qualifies, his holiday pay for the said holiday. However, in lieu of this provision, the Employer may substitute another day for the paid holiday which day shall not be later than the next annual vacation of the employee, and the day so substituted shall be deemed to be the paid holiday. Where a paid holiday falls on an employee's day off or during the vacation period, the Employer shall pay the employee his regular wages for the paid holiday or shall designate a day that is not later than the next annual vacation of the employee and the day so designated shall be deemed to be the holiday, When an employee is scheduled to work on a holiday and does not work, he shall not be paid for the holiday unless excused in writing by the Employer. There shall be no pyramiding of premium pay, overtime pay and paid holiday pay.
ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. The Corporation recognizes the following paid holidays at the employee's standard rate of pay: New Year's Day Civic Day Second Monday in February Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS (continued) and, any other day proclaimed as a holiday by the Federal, Provincial, or Municipal Government. A employee who is not required to work on the above paid holidays shall receive holiday pay equal to one normal day's pay or a lieu day off with pay at a time mutually agreeable to the Corporation and the employee, provided that she has worked her full scheduled shift immediately preceding and succeeding the paid holiday unless excused in writing by her supervisor or the Administrator. The Corporation may require employees to work on paid holidays; and it is agreed that they will receive time and one-half (1 for the time worked: and, in addition, they shall receive a lieu day off with pay at a time mutually agreeable to the Corporation and the employee. When an employee is scheduled to work on a paid holiday and does not work, she shall not be paid for the holiday unless excused in writing by her supervisor or the Administrator. It is further agreed that part-time employees covered by this Agreement have the same responsibility to work on paid holidays when required. It is understood that an employee will not be required to work her scheduled shift before or after a paid holiday if she is absent on sick leave, or if she is on an authorized leave of absence. If a paid holiday is observed during an employee's vacation, such employee shall be given another day's vacation with pay or wages in lieu thereof. Part-time employees will be paid for time worked at the rate of double time and one-half (2.5). Such employees may opt to take an unpaid day off in lieu of the holiday worked. If they do not work a holiday, they shall be paid in accordance with the Employment Employees shall be allowed to accumulate no than five lieu days for use at a later date at a mutually agreeable time. ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. (The following central provision will be appropriately reflected in the collective agreements as Article The designated will also be set out in this Article:) The agreements shall provide eleven paid holidays with appropriate payment to all employees who have completed twenty (20) days worked with the employer, provided that he fulfils the qualifying conditions, if any, set out in the respective collective agreements. Effective April the collective agreements shall provide for twelve (12) paid holidays subject to the terms and conditions set out herein. (The following clause will appear in all collective agreements replacing any provision related to Work on a Paid Holiday that existed in the Hospital’s expiring collective agreement:) An employee required to work on any of the designated holidays listed in the collective agreement shall be paid at the rate oftime and one-half (I his straight time rate of pay for all hours worked on such holiday, subject to Article In addition, he will receive a day off with pay in the amount of his regular straight time hourly rate of pay times seven and one-half (7 hours, except in those hospitals which have a standard work day of less than seven and one-half (7 hours in which case holiday pay will be based on the standard daily hours in that hospital. ARTICLE PAID HOLIDAYS. For the purposes of this Agreement the following days will be recognized as holidays: New Years Day Thanksgiving Day Labour Day Christmas Day Good Friday Boxing Day Victoria Day Canada Day The Company will pay each active full-time employee who has completed his probationary period, his normal shift's pay at his regular hourly rate for each such holiday provided that the employee works his full scheduled shift immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday unless excused from doing so by the Company. If any of the above holidays fall within an employee's vacation period, the employee shall receive another day off with pay immediately following his vacation. The Company may agree to grant the lieu day off immediately preceding the vacation period. If an employee performs work on a recognized holiday, he may elect to receive another day off with pay in lieu of holiday pay for that day. The employee must inform the employer of his election to take a lieu day on or before the holiday worked and the substituted holiday shall be selected by mutual agreement no later than thirty (30) days following the holiday worked.
