Normal Workweek The normal workweek shall consist of five (5) days, eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week. This Article shall not restrict the extension of the regular workday or workweek on an overtime basis when such is necessary to carry on the business of the District.
Hour Shift When the regularly scheduled shifts for a contractor/customer are based on four (4) ten (10) hour shifts, it is agreed that employees will:
Afternoon Shift If a second shift is employed, the hours of work shall be seven and one-half (7 1/2) hours of work between the hours of 4:30 P.M. and 12:30 A.M. for which eight (8) hours will be paid and a shift premium of sixty-one cents (61¢) shall be added on to the classified hourly rate.
Hour Shifts When the Employer deems it necessary to implement a twelve (12) hour work day, affected employees shall be notified pursuant to Clause 14.05. The following Clauses shall be replaced or added to the Collective Agreement where appropriate.
Normal Work Week Work week is defined as a fixed, regularly recurring period of seven (7) calendar days designated by the Appointing Authority. It is recognized that because of the nature of their work, some of the supervisors covered by this Agreement may be required to work varied hours, work on holidays and weekends, making the maintaining of consistent starting and stopping times or the assignment of the number of hours worked in one day sometimes impossible. Insofar as practicable and without reducing the efficiency of work performance, supervisors are expected to complete normal routine work within a normal work day. Supervisor's hours may be adjusted in accordance with circumstances and with the approval of the immediate superior.
Normal Work Day The normal work day shall consist of eight (8) hours' work to be completed within eight and one-half (8 1/2) consecutive hours.
Normal Working Hours Unless otherwise specified in the Purchase Order Normal Working Hours shall be 6:00 A.M. through 2:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding Holidays. See also Working Day.
Weekdays All work performed outside of the designated shift Monday through Friday shall be paid at time and one-half (1-1/2) the straight-time hourly wage rate.
Time Off Between Shifts Failure to provide the minimum number of hours between the commencement of an employee's scheduled shift and the commencement of such employee's next scheduled shift shall result in payment of one and one-half (1½) times the employee's regular straight time hourly rate for only those hours which reduce the minimum hour period. Where the minimum period is reduced as a result of an approved change of shift(s) requested by the employee(s), such premium payment shall not apply. The minimum number of hours for purposes of this Article shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.
Safety Shoes 3901 Employees who are required to wear steel-toed safety shoes will receive $200 toward the purchase and/or replacement of these shoes in the first quarter of each year. Any employee out on an authorized leave shall receive payment within thirty days of their return to paid duty. New employees who are required to wear steel- toed safety shoes will receive $200 toward the purchase of shoes in their first paycheck; for employees hired on or after December 1, he/she shall not receive an additional $200 in the following February.
