Vacation Accrual and Use. All employees can accumulate twice the number of vacation days earned per year. For instance, an employee who has three (3) or less years of creditable service with the District can accumulate twenty (20) days of vacation (2 x 10 days). At no time shall the employee’s accumulated balance exceed twice the annual allocation and no additional days can be accrued that cause the total amount to be in excess of this maximum. Upon retirement or termination, persons having earned unused vacation time will be paid their regular rate of pay for such vacation. The employee may tax shelter any unused sick leave/vacation pay through District-approved plans up to the limits allowed by IRS regulations. Contact the Human Resources Department for information. Upon the death of an employee, his/her accrued vacation will be paid to the beneficiary. An employee must work one-half of the working days of a month to receive credit toward vacation for that month. When computing earned vacation time, absences of an employee on vacation or approved paid sick leave will be considered as time served. Monthly accrued vacation shall be determined from the following table. See "Eligibility" section for new employee restriction. Vacation Accrual and Use. ‌ All vacation time shall be earned monthly. Vacation leave may not be used during the pendency of a Worker's Compensation claim. If a Worker's Compensation claim is approved, employees will have a maximum of one (1) year from the date of return to work following the approved leave to utilize vacation days that were earned while on Worker's Compensation leave. Vacation Leave requests must be submitted no less than twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the requested vacation leave unless approved by the supervisor.
Vacation Accrual and Use. Vacation leave shall be earned at the rate of one (1) eight hour day per month of service. For the purpose of this section, a month of service is completed when the employee has worked eleven (11) days in any one month. Vacation shall accrue from date of employment but shall not be used until the following calendar year thereafter. Vacation earned during any calendar year shall not be available to the employee until January 1st of the year following.

Vacation Accrual and Use. 11.01.00 Employees shall be entitled to accrue and utilize vacation in accordance with Section 7.1, Vacation Leave of the Personnel Policies (except as authorized below). The parties agree to continue the vacation accrual limits noted below and allow members to continue to accrue vacation leave above accrual limits during the calendar year. Employees who on the last day of the first pay period in January of any year exceed the vacation accrual limit shall not earn vacation until the vacation accrual is reduced to the limit allowed. The County agrees to allow the Road Managers transferred back to the unit effective 7-2013 to have any vacation accrual over the OE Maximum at the end of the first full pay period in January 2014 to be paid out on a one time basis . The vacation max/caps will remain the same for all members (including newly transferred Road Managers)
