Probationary Period Seniority. 10.01 Each newly hired full-time employee shall be on probation for four (4) calendar months of active continuous service. During the probationary period, the employee shall be entitled to all rights and benefits of this Collective Agreement except that they may only grieve a termination or disciplinary action on the basis of the standard set out below. Seniority shall be effective from the date of hire. The parties agree that probationary employees may be dismissed or terminated during the probationary period, in the sole opinion of the Employer, for such consideration as, but not limited to, unsatisfactory work performance, general attitude and suitability as an employee.

The probationary period for all other employees shall be 825 hours of active continuous service since the date of hire. During the probationary period, the Employee shall be entitled to all rights and benefits of this Collective Agreement except that she may only grieve a termination or disciplinary action on the basis of the standard set out below. A probationary Employee will have no seniority rights during their probationary period except for the purpose of job posting. Seniority shall be effective from date of hire.
Probationary Period Seniority. Section 1 - Probationary Period New employees hired in the district shall be considered as probationary employees for the first one hundred eighty (180) work days of their employment. When an employee finishes the probationary period, he shall be entered on the seniority list of the district as described in Article 7, Section 2. Days of absenteeism shall not be counted towards the fulfillment of the one hundred eighty (180) probationary work days. The union shall represent probationary employees for the purpose of collective bargaining in respect to rates of pay, wages, hours of employment, or other conditions of employment as set forth in Article 1 of this agreement. The employer shall have the right to discharge and discipline probationary employees. The probationary employee does not have access to the grievance process for matters of discharge or discipline during the probationary period. There will be no benefits (such as: Holiday pay, sick days, and personal business) provided for new employees, except health insurance (if eligible) or qualified bereavement leave days during the first sixty (60) days of employment. During the first sixty (60) work days only, any scheduled work days missed shall be taken with no pay, and each day missed shall extend the probationary period by the number of days absent. Probationary employees are subject to termination at the discretion of the Board and such termination is not subject to the grievance procedure.
Probationary Period Seniority. (a) All new Regular Full-Time, Temporary Full-Time and Regular Part-Time Employees are hired on a probationary basis. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in this Agreement, it is mutually agreed that all new employees are hired on probation. The probation period of employment shall continue for six (6) months and during this period, no seniority rights shall be recognized. Upon completion of six (6) months continuous service they shall be entitled to seniority dated from the date on which they entered the service of the City.
