LEAVES OF ABSENCE PAY. Leave of Absence Without Pay may be granted to a tenured member or to a member holding a second probationary appointment for a period of time mutually agreeable to the Board and the member. Leave of Absence Without Pay may be granted to a librarian member with a continuing appointment for a period of time mutually agreeable to the Board and the member. Leave of Absence Without Pay may be granted for the following reasons: professional activities intended to improve the member’s qualifications and thereby enhance his/her value to the University; to provide professional service on a full-time basis to a governmental or other outside agency; or, for other good and sufficient purpose. If the member’s application for Leave of Absence Without Pay the requirements of the granting of such leave shall be subject to the provision that the Department/School and the Xxxx or the Chief Librarian in the case of a librarian who has satisfactory performance while at the University, can make satisfactory arrangements, which may include the appointment of a replacement, to cover the member’s responsibilities to the University. A member desiring Leave of Absence Without Pay shall apply in writing to the Xxxx with a copy to the Chair/Director or in the case of librarians to the Chief Librarian with a copy to the department head, where applicable, stating the purpose and duration of the leave. The application should be submitted at least six months prior to the commencement date of the leave. Within three months of the date of receipt of the member’s application for Leave of Absence Without Pay, he/she shall be notified in writing by the President whether his/her request will be granted, or alternatively, of the status of the consideration being given to the application. Consideration will be given to a request by an applicant who has been given a Leave of Absence Without Pay to forego or alter the dates of such a leave, but the arrangements made to cover the member’s responsibilities to the University may preclude the granting of such a request. If a Leave of Absence Without Pay does not exceed thirty-one calendar days, the Board and the member shall continue to make contributions towards the benefit programs in which the member is participating pursuant to this Agreement. LEAVES OF ABSENCE PAY. Eligibility for leaves provided in this Article shall be limited to a full-time employee who has successfully completed probationary period. Time absent within the limits of leaves provided in this Article and for which compensation is received from the Company shall be considered as if the time, not to exceed eight (8) hours in any one day, had been worked for purposes of eligibility for overtime premium in the same work week, a holiday or vacation for which otherwise eligible. An employee summoned and who reports for jury duty or witness shall be excused from work on such days on which otherwise would have worked and shall be paid eight times base hourly wage rate so long as any pay for jury service or crown witness service (other than travel allowance) is signed over to the Company. The employee must give the Company sufficient prior notice of summons and must return to work promptly when released on any or at the end of service. If the employee works on the same day, will be paid the difference, if any, between actual earnings that day plus the jury or crown witness pay and the straight-time pay he or she would have received for regular shift.

  • Leaves of Absences 14.01 Written requests for personal leaves of absence without pay for educational or personal reasons will be considered on an individual basis by the employee’s manager or her designate. Such requests are to be submitted as far in advance as possible with a minimum notice of four (4) weeks except in cases of emergency or if the Employer determines that service needs and staffing requirements can accommodate a leave on shorter notice. A written reply will be given as soon as possible. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Except in unusual circumstances, a leave of absence other than for educational reasons will not be granted until one year’s continuous service has been completed.

  • Leaves of Absence Article 11 applies for both paid and unpaid leaves. For the purposes of an unpaid 11.25 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 14.05 hours. For the purposes of an unpaid 7.5 hour shift, the deduction from pay shall equate to 9.375 hours.

  • Paid Leaves of Absence Paid leaves of absences granted under this Article shall not exceed the employee's normal work schedule.

  • LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND BEREAVEMENT PAY 21.01 The Employer may grant leaves of absence without pay, for a time mutually agreed upon between the Employer and the employee, for the following reasons:

  • Unpaid Leaves of Absence A. A department head or designee may grant an unpaid leave of absence for a period not to exceed one (1) year. The employee shall provide substantiation to support the employee's request for an unpaid leave of absence.

  • Leaves of Absence With Pay Section 14.

  • Other Leaves of Absence In the event that you are on a bona fide leave of absence, not otherwise described in this definition, from which you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, your Separation from Service has occurred on the first day on which your leave of absence period exceeds six months or, if earlier, upon your termination of employment (provided that such termination of employment constitutes a Separation from Service in accordance with the last sentence of the first paragraph of this definition).

  • EXTENDED LEAVES OF ABSENCE 1. Military leave without pay shall be granted to any employee who is inducted in any branch of the armed forces of the United States for the period of said service.
