Definition of Overtime (Overtime Premium a) All authorized overtime in excess of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours in any day for employees who are regularly scheduled to work a seven and one half (7 ½) hour shift or seventy-five (75) hours over a bi-weekly pay period, shall be paid at one and one-half (1 ½) the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay except for authorized overtime on a statutory holiday which shall be paid to full time employees at two and one-half (2 ½) times the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay.

Definition of Overtime (Overtime Premium time worked beyond the normal daily hours or normal hours of the Hospital shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times the employee's basic straight time hourly rate of pay, provided no overtime premium will be paid for overtime on an exchange of shifts mutually agreed to between two employees where approved by the Hospital. At the request of an employee in writing and upon agreement by the Hospital, an employee may be permitted to take compensating time off on the basis of one and one-half hours for each hour of overtime worked. Such compensating time off shall be granted within sixty days of the day on which overtime hours were worked at a time determined by the Hospital and satisfactory to the employee. Where such time off cannot be scheduled within the sixty day period referred to above, the Employer will pay for the overtime worked at the rate of one and one-half times the employee's basic straight time hourly rate of pay. The sixty day time limit referred to above, may be extended by mutual agreement between the parties. It is understood and acknowledged that the Hospital has the right to require employees to perform reasonable overtime work. Overtime premium will not be duplicated nor pyramided with any other premium payable under this Agreement. Full-time employees who report for any scheduled shift will be guaranteed at least four hours of work, or if no work is available will be paid at least four hours except when work is not available due to conditions beyond the control of the Hospital. The reporting allowance outlined as herein shall not apply whenever an employee has received not less than one hour's prior notice not to report for work. An employee who is required to remain available for duty on standby at any time outside of the scheduled working hours for that particular employee shall receive the amount of two dollars and ten cents for each hour of standby duty provided that such employee can be contacted by telephone or other means of communication whenever needed during such period of standby and that such employee be prepared to undertake his/her assigned duties as expeditiously as possible when requested to do so. When an employee is called in to work the standby allowance per shift shall cease.
