Exam Leave. Employees, who request time off to write an exam during working hours, will be released from work with pay. This Leave of Absence shall be requested at least one (1) month prior to the exam date, and shall not exceed two (2) days in total per year. The employee will provide proof to the Employer that time off to write the exam is required during working hours.

Calculation and approval Calculation and approval of leave will be as follows: Each day of Exam Leave will be based on the individual Employee’s usual shift length unless it is an additional day to the normal contracted hours. Exam leave shall not apply on a day that is additional to an employee’s roster for that fortnight. the Manager of the UA Site, Service or Program is responsible for assessing and approving exam leave The application for exam leave shall be submitted not less than four weeks prior to the exam. Where approved Exam Leave shall be taken at a time that is mutually agreed between the Employer and the Employee. The Employer shall not unreasonably withhold approval for such leave. UA shall within fourteen days of the request being made, notify the Employee in writing whether the leave is approved. If the leave is not granted the reasons will be included in the notification to the employee. Exam Leave. Teachers taking post secondary course(s) leading to improvement of qualifications or directly related to the teacher’s workload or that will permit teacher to broaden teaching experience shall be released for the scheduled exam period plus immediately preceding or following half day, to a maximum of one day per school year. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Where an employee is sick during a period when leave under this provision has been granted proof of attendance at the course is not required for that period and the employee shall receive payment in accordance with personal leave provisions. Leave of absence granted in accordance with this clause shall count for all purposes of employment.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Care Leave Employees will be granted up to twenty-eight (28) hours leave in each calendar year for the purpose of providing or arranging for unexpected care for the employee’s spouse, dependent or parent(s), or to accompany them to obtain unexpected medical care. Fifty percent (50%) of the leave granted under this clause (up to 14 hours) shall be provided by the Employer as paid leave. The remaining fifty percent (50%) (up to 14 hours) will be contributed by the employee from the employee’s accrued leave entitlements (if any). To clarify, this article, and other clauses in the current agreement that provide for paid or unpaid leaves for purposes under the new ESA provisions, will be deemed to offset the requirement for the Employer to provide for ten days of unpaid leave to the extent that the Care Leave clause, and other leave clauses are accessed during the course of a year.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave. In circumstances where the employee has exhausted all of the paid leave, a further 2 days unpaid leave may be taken.

  • Annual Leave (a) An employee may elect with the consent of the employer, subject to the Annual Xxxxxxxx Xxx 0000, to take annual leave not exceeding five days in single day periods or part thereof, in any calendar year at a time or times agreed by the parties.
