Sick Leave Incentive Pay. The plan provides for the payment of 25% of accumulated sick leave balance between 30 and 120 days, after 10 years of City service, to be paid to the employee upon termination of employment. The intent of this program continues to be an incentive to use sick leave only when required. a. To PERS safety members who service retire at age 50 (minimum) or retire due to industrial disability; b. To PERS miscellaneous members who service retire at age 60.
Sick Leave Incentive Pay. A. Employees using 36 hours of sick leave or less during the 26 complete pay periods most closely coinciding with the beginning and end of the fiscal year and having a minimum total accumulation of 160 hours, may sell for cash the excess over 160 hours of unfrozen sick leave accumulation to a maximum established according to the following schedule: Only the hours sold back to the City shall be deducted from the employee's accrued balance of sick leave. B. Payment will be made during the month of August each year. Pay will be computed based on the employee's salary step on June 30 of the preceding fiscal year. (The Finance Department shall issue eligibility notices to qualified employees at the end of each fiscal year.) Written request must be submitted to the Finance Office within ten (10) working days of issuance of the notice. Sick leave incentive payments will be incorporated into the normal payroll. C. In lieu of sick leave incentive pay, the employee may elect to retain sick leave credits to the 400- hour maximum to supplement pay for long term disability leave, up to the maximum set in chapter 18 (3) of this MOU. D. Permanent employees who retire during the fiscal year will be compensated on a pro-rated basis subject to their formal retirement date. E. Subject to the approval of his/her department head, the employee may elect to receive additional vacation credits in lieu of all or part of the sick leave incentive pay. This election must be indicated in writing and submitted to the Finance Office with department head's signature within ten working days of issuance of the notice from Finance. This election may not be reversed at a later date.
Sick Leave Incentive Pay. Employees shall receive sick pay incentives as follows: Two or less sick days used = $200.00 Three sick days used = $100.00 Sick Leave incentives are to be computed on an annual basis and will be paid in July for the preceding fiscal year. Use of no less than one (1) day of applicable sick leave (or additional consecutive days of sick leave use) shall cause the employee to renew his/her sick leave incentive year. Sick leave incentive eligibility shall restart on the next calendar day following the last day of sick leave or shall begin no later than the next calendar day following twelve (12) consecutive months of non-sick leave use. Employees meeting this criteria must submit their written request for said reimbursement. It is understood that sick leave used in conjunction with receiving Workers’ Compensation benefits shall not be considered sick leave solely for the purpose of receiving the sick leave incentive.

Employees using 40 or fewer hours of sick leave during the fiscal year may convert 50% of their remaining accrued sick leave up to a maximum of 50% of an employee’s annual rate of accrual (i.e. 50% of 96 hours). Sick leave not converted to pay shall be carried over and accumulated for use when needed. For purposes of this section, sick leave used in relation to a death in the immediate family as provided in Article 9, shall not be counted against the forty (40) or fewer hour eligibility limit on sick leave usage. 2.
