Funeral Leave definition

Funeral Leave is defined as absence from duty because of death of a family member or relative.
Funeral Leave. Leave granted to an employee to attend a funeral for other than immediate family.
Funeral Leave. Three (3) regularly scheduled workdays off with pay for funeral leave in the case of a death in the Resident's immediate family. "Immediate family" is defined as parents, spouse, children, stepchildren, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, and mother-in-law.

Examples of Funeral Leave in a sentence

  • An employee will be allowed three (3) consecutive working days of Funeral Leave with pay in the event of a death in his immediate family; namely father, mother, step- father, step-mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, spouse (including established civil unions), son, daughter, step-son, step-daughter, brother and sister.

  • An employee with a Temporary appointment is eligible only for Excused Absences; an employee with a Provisional appointment is eligible only for absences classified as Excused Absence, Jury Duty, or Funeral Leave.

  • Requests to use sick leave credits for a death in the employee's immediate family shall be in accordance with the Funeral Leave section of the Leaves of Absence Article.

  • Both parties hereby waive any right to a jury trial and consent to a trial to the court.

  • The JSO will not unreasonably deny a request for Bereavement or Funeral Leave subject to the provisions of this Article.

Funeral Leave means time off without loss of pay or paid leave.
