Funeral Leave definition

Funeral Leave is defined as absence from duty because of death of a family member or relative.
Funeral Leave. Leave granted to an employee to attend a funeral for other than immediate family.

  • Funeral Leave is in addition to and separate from vacation or sick leave provided in this Resolution.

Funeral Leave. Three (3) regularly scheduled workdays off with pay for funeral leave in the case of a death in the Resident's immediate family. "Immediate family" is defined as parents, spouse, children, stepchildren, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, and mother-in-law. Leave of Absence (LOA). A LOA request must be made in writing on the official GME Office “Leave of Absence Request” form at least two weeks prior to the requested time off, and must be approved by the Program Director and Executive Director of GME Office. Funeral Leave. All bargaining unit members shall receive his/her regular compensation during absence from work due to the death of a parent, grandparent, grandchild, stepparent, husband, wife, child, stepchild, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law. Such absence is limited to three (3) days per occurrence (except for aunt or uncle by blood or marriage, niece or nephew which shall be limited to two (2) days per occurrence). Funeral Leave. Employees shall receive the amount of pay they would have received on a regular straight time basis for each day necessarily lost from regularly scheduled duty to make arrangements for and attend the funeral of a member of their immediate family. Funeral leave will be a maximum of three (3) duty days for immediate family as defined in sub- section (a) below. This payment shall not be made for any of such days on which the employee for any other reason would have been absent from work. Employee must notify the City as soon as possible of the necessity for such absence, must attend the funeral and, if requested by the City, must present proof of death.
