HEALTH AND SAFETY. 11.01 The Parties to this Collective Agreement will cooperate to the fullest extent in the matter of occupational health, safety and accident prevention. The Employer will require that Employees utilize safety equipment and devices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Code. Required safety equipment and devices will be provided where necessary by the Employer. The Employer and Employees will take reasonable steps to eliminate, reduce or minimize all workplace safety hazards. 11.02 The Employer shall establish a Health and Safety Committee(s) which shall be composed of representatives of the Employer and at least one (1) Employee representative of the Union and may include representatives of other employee groups. Where practical, the Union shall have two (2) representatives sit on the Committee(s). This Committee shall meet at least once a month. 11.03 The number of Employer representatives on the Committee shall not exceed the number of representatives from the Union and other employee groups. The Committee will, on an annual basis, discuss and determine the most effective means of chairing meetings. 11.04 The Basic Rate of Pay shall be paid to an Employee representative for time spent in attendance at a meeting of this Committee. 11.05 The Employer shall not unreasonably deny Employee representatives of the Health and Safety Committee(s) access to the workplace to conduct safety inspections. 11.06 The Committee shall consider such matters as occupational health and safety including responsibility for communication and education as required. The Union may make recommendations to the Employer in that regard. 11.07 The Health and Safety Committee shall also consider measures necessary to protect the security of each Employee on the Employer’s premises and may make recommendations to the Employer in that regard. (a) If an issue arises regarding occupational health or safety, the Employee or Union shall first seek to resolve the issue through discussion with the applicable immediate supervisor in an excluded management position. If the issue is not resolved satisfactorily, it may then be forwarded, in writing, to the Committee. The Committee shall meet within ten (10) days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Named Holidays) of receiving a written issue regarding occupational health and safety. HEALTH AND SAFETY. All necessary precautions shall be taken by the Contractor to ensure the health and safety of staff and labour engaged for the Works. The Contractor shall, in collaboration with and to the requirements of the local health authorities, ensure that para-medical staff, first aid facilities, ambulance service are available on the Site at all times, and that suitable arrangements are made for all necessary welfare and hygiene requirements and for the prevention of epidemics. The Contractor shall appoint a safety officer to be responsible for the safety of personnel on the Site. This safety officer shall be qualified for his work and shall have the authority to issue instructions concerning safety and take protective measures to prevent accidents. The Contractor shall maintain records and make reports concerning health, safety and welfare of personnel, and damage to property, in such manner as the Authority may reasonably require.

HEALTH AND SAFETY. CONTRACTOR shall comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and LEA laws, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures regarding pupil and employee health and safety. CONTRACTOR shall comply with the requirements of California Education Code sections 35021 et. seq. regarding the examination of CONTRACTOR’s employees and volunteers for tuberculosis. CONTRACTOR shall provide to LEA documentation for each individual volunteering, employed, contracted, and/or otherwise hired by CONTRACTOR of such compliance before an individual comes in contact with an LEA pupil. CONTRACTOR will comply with the requirements of California Education Code section 35021 et seq., regarding preventing registered sex offenders from volunteering and to request fingerprinting clearance of volunteers. CONTRACTOR shall comply with OSHA Blood Borne Pathogens Standards, Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) section 1910.1030, when providing medical treatment or assistance to a pupil. CONTRACTOR further agrees to provide annual training regarding universal health care precautions and to post required notices in areas designated in the California Health and Safety Code.
HEALTH AND SAFETY. 15.1 The parties to this Agreement are committed to the safe operation of machinery and equipment, to the observance of safe working practices, the proper use of all personal safety equipment and to the safety and health of all employees and other persons who may enter the workplace. 15.2 To facilitate this, all employees will be made aware of Company OH&S policies, rules and procedures. Employees are to ensure that they adhere to the Company’s OH&S policies, rules and procedures at all times in the workplace. Any breach of the Company’s OH&S policies, rules and procedures will be deemed to be misconduct and will lead to disciplinary action or dismissal. 15.3 Employees are responsible for the observance of Company OH&S Policy in the workplace. They will take care and have responsibility of all safety equipment in the workplace including signage. Negligence of an employee associated with the loss of OH&S equipment or signage may result in the employee having to compensate for that loss to the Company. 15.4 Employees will not undertake any task or operate any equipment that they have not been trained to perform safely. Any employee that is unsure whether he/she or a work colleague is competent to safely perform a task or operate equipment will not proceed and will notify the Company immediately. 15.5 Smoking is not permitted inside Company premises (including toilets) or vehicles. 15.6 Before commencing work employees shall conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify and eliminate any hazards to themselves or other persons. If an employee cannot safely rectify these hazards he/she should not commence work and immediately notify Company management. 15.7 Employees should immediately notify Company management by completion of the relevant form if they injure themselves at work or subsequently become aware of any injury or disease that they may have sustained during the course of employment with the Company.
HEALTH AND SAFETY. C8.1 The Contractor shall promptly notify the Authority of any health and safety hazards which may arise in connection with the performance of the Contract. The Authority shall promptly notify the Contractor of any health and safety hazards which may exist or arise at the Authority’s Premises and which may affect the Contractor in the performance of the Contract. C8.2 While on the Premises, the Contractor shall comply with any health and safety measures implemented by the Authority in respect of Contractor’s Personnel and other persons working on those Premises.
HEALTH AND SAFETY. 7A01 The parties to this Collective Agreement endorse the importance of a safe and secure environment, in which nurses must work. The parties will work together in recognizing and resolving Occupational Health and Safety issues. 7A02 In accordance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act, the Employer agrees to make reasonable and proper provisions for the maintenance of a high standard of health and safety in the workplace and will provide safety and personal protective equipment where required and install safety devices where necessary. 7A03 The Workplace Safety and Health Committee shall operate with Union representation for the purpose of ensuring health and safety in the workplace and the identification of health and safety hazards. On an annual basis the Workplace Safety and Health Committee will be provided with a copy of the Critical Incident Stress Management or applicable policies for review. 7A04 The Employer and the Union agree that no form of abuse of nurses will be condoned in the workplace. Both parties will work together in recognizing, facilitating the reporting of alleged abuse and resolving such problems as they arise. Any nurse who believes a situation may become or has become abusive shall report this to the immediate supervisor. The Employer shall notify the Union ninety-six (96) hours after the receipt of the report. Every reasonable effort will be made to rectify the abusive situation to the mutual satisfaction of the parties. There shall be a policy supporting a Respectful Workplace and zero tolerance of staff abuse which shall be reviewed annually by the Workplace Health and Safety Committee. Such policy shall address the issue of communication strategies, which will include signage. The Employer’s Respectful Workplace policy shall include a commitment to conclude the investigation as quickly as is reasonably possible and that the investigation process itself will be conducted in an impartial manner. 7A05 At the request of a nurse, the Employer shall provide, at no cost to the nurse, vaccination(s) and/or immunization(s) for occupational illness(es) in accordance with the Canadian Immunization Guide from the Laboratory Centre for Disease for Health Canada. 7A06 Rehabilitation and Return to Work Program - The Employer agrees to actively participate and facilitate the rehabilitation and return to work of ill, injured or disabled nurses even when she/he is not covered under the D & R, WCB or MPI programs. HEALTH AND SAFETY. 6.5.1 The Supplier shall promptly notify the Authority of any health and safety hazards which may arise in connection with the performance of its obligations under the Contract. The Authority shall promptly notify the Supplier of any health and safety hazards which may exist or arise at the Premises and which may affect the Supplier in the performance of its obligations under the Contract. 6.5.2 While on the Premises, the Supplier shall comply with any health and safety measures implemented by the Authority in respect of Staff and other persons working there. 6.5.3 The Supplier shall notify the Authority immediately in the event of any incident occurring in the performance of its obligations under the Contract on the Premises where that incident causes any personal injury or damage to property which could give rise to personal injury. 6.5.4 The Supplier shall comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Xxx 0000 and any other acts, orders, regulations and codes of practice relating to health and safety, which may apply to Staff and other persons working on the Premises in the supply of the Services under the Contract. 6.5.5 The Supplier shall ensure that its health and safety policy statement (as required by the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974) is made available to the Authority on request.
HEALTH AND SAFETY. 16.01 The University and the Union acknowledge that the University and its employees have duties and responsibilities with regard to health and safety in accordance with the provisions of the Provincial Health & Safety legislation. Should current legislation be amended, it is agreed that the Parties shall meet to discuss such changes and the impact upon the work of the employees. (a) The University shall make all necessary and advisable provisions (per the Central Joint Health & Safety Committee) for the occupational health and safety of employees. (b) The University shall provide training in the use of special equipment whenever it is required that the employee use such equipment as part of her work assignment. The time spent for training shall be included as part of the work assignment. (c) The University shall provide (at no cost to the employee) and employees shall wear, appropriate protective clothing; and/or other devices (e.g. emergency phone), which the University deems necessary to protect employees from workplace injury or hazard. (d) The University and the Union agree to participate in Local Joint Health & Safety Committees. All time spent at the Local Joint Health & Safety Committee’s official meetings by an employee as a representative of the Union, shall be considered paid time and counted as either part of her semester hours of work or she shall be paid at the appropriate wage rate, whichever is applicable as soon as possible following her confirmed attendance at the meeting. (e) Further, all time spent at the Central Joint Health & Safety Committee’s official meetings by an employee as a representative of the Union, shall be considered paid time and counted as either part of her semester hours of work or she shall be paid at the appropriate wage rate, whichever is applicable. It is understood that only one (1) employee in the Bargaining Unit may make this claim per semester and that the maximum number of hours that an employee may claim will be in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. (a) In accordance with the applicable provisions of the Ontario Health & Safety Act, the University acknowledges the employee’s right to refuse or stop working where the employee believes that her health and/or safety is in danger. HEALTH AND SAFETY. 19.1 The Supplier shall promptly notify the British Council of any health and safety hazards which may arise in connection with the performance of this Agreement, take such steps as are reasonably necessary to ensure the health and safety of persons likely to be affected by the performance of the Services and notify the British Council of any incident occurring on the Premises or otherwise in connection with the provision of the Services which causes or could give rise to personal injury. 19.2 The Supplier shall take all necessary measures to comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Etc Act 1974 (or any equivalent legislation in any applicable jurisdiction) and any other acts, orders, regulations and codes of practice (including any approved codes of practice) relating to health and safety, which may apply to the performance of this Agreement.
