Extracurricular Stipends. Employees will be paid a stipend when assigned by the Director or his/her designee to perform duties outside of their regular work assignment within the limitations as defined by TRS and IMRF regulations. The stipend schedule for pre-determined extracurricular positions is as follows: • Educational Technology Support • $700 • STEAM Coordinator • $700 The duties and stipend amounts for any stipend outside the above schedule will be delineated in writing and submitted to the Association for review and input prior to the offering of such stipend.
Extracurricular Stipends. The Employer shall pay a stipend to any bargaining unit member who volunteers to perform duties in connection with the Employer’s extracurricular programming, provided such duties are not otherwise contractually required of the bargaining unit member. Extracurricular Stipends. Ⓐ GENERAL 1. It is the intention of the Montgomery County Public Schools to provide instruction and supervision by fully qualified sponsors in a variety of extracurricular activities for students, subject to available funds. This program shall be voluntary except for unit members covered in Section D of this Article. It is also the intention of MCPS to utilize unit members as sponsors of activities and sports; however, if unit members are not available, nonunit members may be utilized to sponsor an activity or coach a sport. The supplementary pay schedule identifies certain stipend-compensated activities. This does not mean that because an activity is listed for a stipend payment that all schools will participate or take steps to participate in all activities. The fol- lowing conditions must be met before any activity is implemented: (1) the need for it has been estab- lished in advance by the principal and the staff; (2) the activity is assigned in addition to the regular teaching responsibility; and (3) it is an activity rec- ommended by the principal and approved by the community superintendent. 2. The principal shall be responsible for the conduct of the entire extracurricular program within his/her school. Whenever any of the activities being con- ducted do not continue to meet the requirements of the school as determined by the principal, such activities shall be discontinued in that school. 3. The principal in each school shall be responsible for the development of the organizational structure required to carry out the approved activities. 4. The principal is responsible for making the se- lection of unit members to any of the approved compensated activities subject to the approval of the community superintendent. 5. If a unit member’s services in the compensated activity has been satisfactory to the principal, the unit member shall be given first preference for ap- pointment by the principal to the compensated activity if that unit member makes known to the principal a desire to continue. 6. The principal is responsible for posting a notice of sponsor vacancies for each of the activities to be conducted in the school. Qualified unit members who work in the same building for which a stipend vacancy is posted shall be given first consideration. Posting vacancies outside of the local school may take place but is not required. Extracurricular Stipends. Advisors of certain extracurricular activities, which demand extended time beyond school responsibilities, should receive additional remuneration as follows:

Any unit member accepting an extracurricular activity will receive a stipend in an amount to be determined by the Building Principal and an Association designee each school year. Any unit member who continues in the same extracurricular activity shall receive a stipend equal to or greater than what they received the previous year. An annual report will be submitted to both the Superintendent and the Association President for review. It is understood that anyone assuming an extracurricular assignment will be in attendance at events sponsored by their group. A. 8th Grade Trip 1. $2,000 to compensate a unit member for planning the trip, including but not limited to the selection of lodging, establishment of itinerary, and conduction of meetings with parents and students. This stipend will cover all expense incurred by the unit member in carrying out these responsibilities. 2. $3,000 ($1,500 each) to compensate two unit members for conduction of the trip, in- cluding the coordination of staff members accompanying students on the trip, as well as other related activities with regard to the trip. The parties agree that these stipends will be shared should the 8th grade trip be divided into more than one event, such sharing to be determined jointly by the Bay Trail Principal and the PEA representatives at Bay Trail B. Extracurricular Stipends. See Appendix A (Salary Schedule) Section 1. POST-SEASON PAY Post-season will become effective after the completion of the regular league competition. All head coaches will participate. Assistant coaches may be included upon the Athletic Director’s recommendation and approved by the high school administration. Post-season play responsibilities eligible for pay include practice, preparation for practice, competitive events, preparation for competitive events, travel, and supervision. The head coach of each program may elect to take all members of the coaching staff to regional or round one of the playoffs, if desired. All members of the coaching staff will have associated travel expenses (hotel, meals, mileage) covered. Post-season stipends shall be calculated on a percentage basis of a coaches supplemental contract, consistent with the stipend/hours calculations as applied to the salary schedule. Coaches for activities with regional or round one of playoffs (exclusive of sanctioned league playoffs) shall receive an additional 10% of their supplemental contract. If a team wins at regional, or advances to round two, the coaches shall receive another 10%. Sports that have a third round would not be further compensated beyond round one (1) 10% and round two (2) 10%.
