Union Executive Board Leave. Subject to the employee’s work unit operating requirements, up to two Union members per year may be granted a leave of absence without pay for up to twelve days annually to attend meetings of the Local’s Executive Board. More than one employee on such leave cannot be absent from the same department at the same time. The leave shall be requested in writing by the employee to the unit manager at least forty-five (45) days prior to the date of the leave. Employees are not required to use APL, but leave requests under this Section will be considered in accordance with the department’s APL scheduling procedures, and will be treated as an APL request under those procedures. In the alternative, the employee may find his/her own coverage, provided that doing so does not create a shortage in the schedule on a different shift, and does not create overtime.

Where an employee is granted personal leave pursuant to Article Leave of Absence or is granted election leave pursuant to Article Leave of Absence, such employee may, prior to commencing such leave, subject to terms and conditions of individual benefit plans, make arrangements with the Gallery to pay for continuation of insurance benefits. It is understood and agreed that the employee is responsible for full payment of the employee benefits in which the employee is participating for the period of absence and this shall be communicated to the employee in writing at the time the arrangements are made. Self-Funded Leave of Absence The leave plan permits employees, upon approval by the Department Manager, Senior Manager and Director, and Volunteer Resources, to finance a leave of absence for a period of one (1) year. Employees work their daily hours while receiving eighty percent (80%) of their base salary for each of four years.   • Executive Leave The Employer shall authorize a leave of absence with pay for one (1) employee who is a member of the Association for a two-year period beginning four (4) weeks after written notice by the Association to the Bureau of Employee Relations and said employee’s agency.
