Union Leave definition

Union Leave. A leave without pay for a maximum of two (2) seniority employees with not more than one (1) employee in each building at any one time will be granted for a maximum of five (5) days annually, upon prior written notice and approval for the purpose of attending Union convention or conference. The Association shall reimburse the District on a current basis those sums paid to the Office of Retirement Services for Association release time.

In all cases reinstatement rights relate to a return to a position within the department from which the person went on leave. When leave without pay is granted, the employer reserves the right to adjust the employees work schedule for the time requested and the pay period immediately following.

More Definitions of Union Leave

Union Leave is defined as leave granted to employees at the request of the Union for leaders and stewards to attend to union business, for which the Union will reimburse the State Bar for the cost of salary and benefits. Stewards acting on representational matters, bargaining team members acting on bargaining-related matters, or other union leaders attending meetings with management for the purpose of bargaining, representation, or labor relations matters, shall be provided paid release time and not be subject to reimbursable Union Leave.

If applicable, the Company shall continue to pay for the employee’s benefits during such leave provided that the Union and/or the employee reimburses the Company in full for such benefits beginning on the first (1st) day of the month following the commencement of such leave. During such leave, the Company will continue the seniority of the employee on leave and the accrual of benefits based on seniority.
