Local Union Business Leave. The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence without pay to local bargaining unit members for the purpose of attending Union seminars and/or attending to Union business. The cumulative total leave of absence will be determined locally, but shall not exceed forty (40) days per year per hospital. The amount of notice required and the number of employees who may be absent at any one time and from any one area shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.

Local Union Business Leave. The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence without pay to local bargaining unit members for the purpose of attending Union seminars and/or attending to Union business provided that such leave does not interfere with the efficient operation of the Hospital. Such leave will not be unreasonably denied. The Employee must apply to Employee Relations and their Manager for such leave, in writing, at least seven (7) calendar days in advance, if possible. Union Position Leave When an employee is elected as the Union's President or First President (Provincially) the Union will immediately following such election advise the Employer of the name of the employee so elected. Leave of absence shall be granted from the employee's place of employment for the duration of the current term of office. The Union shall reimburse the Employer the amounts paid on behalf of the employee, including pay and benefits. Up to the equivalent of three (3) selected Local Union Executive members shall be granted a paid leave of absence from their normal duties for the duration of term or as per such term noted in a written request. The selected Local Union Executive members on full time union leave shall continue to accumulate service and seniority for the duration of the leave. During such leave of absence, the salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the cost of such salary and applicable benefits. The Hospital will xxxx the Union in accordance with the established Union Leave Billing process. It is agreed that the Hospital shall receive at least two (2) weeks notice prior to the date of return from such leave. Sick leave and vacation entitlements on these leaves of absence shall be applied in accordance with the Collective Agreement and will be managed by the employee with notification to the employer. Where a member of the local is elected or appointed as an Executive Board Member, Executive Officer, member of the central negotiating committee, member of Hospital Health Care Professionals Division Executive or as a Membership Development Trainee, such individual shall be granted leave of absence for the time off required to exercise the duties of such appointment. It is also being understood that requests for such leave are to be submitted in writing to the Co-ordinator, Labour Relations, London Health Sciences Centre at least (14) days prior to the commencement of the function for which the leave is requested and shall state particulars thereof.

Local Union Business Leave. E-1 As provided for in Article 14.02, no more than one full-time and one part-time employee will be absent from any one area. For the purposes of Local Union business, the Local Union President shall be entitled to up to sixty (60) hours leave from April 1st of the current year to march 31st of the following year. For purposes of such leave, if the local Union President is not an employee of the Hospital, the local Union President will identify in writing to the Hospital a designate who is a hospital employee and Union xxxxxxx. An employee will suffer no loss of pay, benefits or seniority during such leave, the scheduling of which will be by mutual agreement between the employee and his/her supervisor.

No more than two (2) employees shall be eligible for leave of absence for Union business at one time and not more than one (1) employee from one department. The maximum total number of days available for this bargaining unit to use for Union leave of absence purposes is thirty (30). The maximum total number of days available for an individual bargaining unit member to use for Union leave of absence is twenty (20). When the Hospital requests the OPSEU President or his/her delegate to attend meetings outside their regular shift, meeting time will be paid at the regular hourly rate.
