Sick Leave/Personal. Day(s) Sick Leave pay as provided in Article 38, Section 1, and the National Guidelines issued there under, will be paid on a daily basis for each day of absence due to sickness or accident of any employee who has available Sick Leave, until his days of Sick Leave are exhausted. Two (2) days sick leave pay will be paid for each trip missed for sickness or accident of LayA-B-A bid driver, until his days of sick leave are exhausted. The personal day(s) will be paid and awarded in accordance with the above guidelines provided the employee notifies the employer as set out in the terminal work rules and or policy prior to the driver becoming available for work call. Inclement weather dates which result in a declared “state of Emergency” will not trigger automatic payment of a sick/personal day, unless requested by the employee.

Sick Leave/Personal. Carers Leave Council shall allow employees who have primary responsibilities in relation to either members of their immediate family or members of their household who need their care and support, access to their sick leave entitlement for absences to provide care and support. The entitlement is subject to the employee being primarily responsible for the person concerned. The employee shall on the request from the employer provide medical certificate, statutory declaration or other documentation (that the employee and employer agree on) to the employer. In addition to the leave provided under this clause, an employee may apply for other personal leave of seventeen (17) hours per annum on account of other urgent personal or family needs. Such leave shall be debited against sick leave. Employees taking personal leave for any period of time be required to complete a personal leave form and submit same for authorisation and recording by payroll. Where possible, employees will be required to give prior notice of absence for personal leave to enable Council to cover absences. Consecutive sick leave of more than two (2) normal working days shall require a medical certificate, statutory declaration or other reasonable and acceptable evidence of illness. Provided however, that nothing contained herein shall be taken to prevent the employer from requiring medical evidence of an illness or other reasonable evidence of sickness, for a lesser period in circumstances where Council considers such request warranted, particularly in respect of any sick days taken adjoining a rostered day off or a public holiday (including when the rostered day off or public holiday falls on a Monday or Friday - the following Monday or preceding Friday, as the case may be). Employees agree to inform their supervisor of their absence from work for illness or personal leave within two (2) hours of start time on the day of absence. Sick Leave/Personal. SECTION 21.1 Full-time employees shall accrue sick leave on a 26-pay period per year basis. Employees shall be entitled to the number of sick leave days noted in the chart below. The annual number of sick days shall be divided equally among the 26 pay periods in a year. For example, an employee in her first year of service will accrue sick leave at the rate of 2.153846 hours per pay period.   • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.
