After School Meetings Clause Examples
The 'After School Meetings' clause establishes the rules and expectations for meetings that occur outside of regular school hours. Typically, this clause outlines who is required to attend, the frequency and duration of such meetings, and any procedures for scheduling or notifying participants. For example, it may specify that teachers must attend monthly staff meetings after school or that parents will be invited to special sessions regarding student progress. The core function of this clause is to ensure all parties are aware of their obligations regarding after-hours meetings, promoting clear communication and efficient scheduling.
After School Meetings. (a) With the aim of continuing to improve communications and to utilize fully the professional resources of the teaching profession, teachers are required to attend three (3) parent conferences per year to be held after each of the first three report cards, and are encouraged to attend PTA and other parent group meetings.
(b) Teachers may be required to attend not more than three (3) faculty meetings per month, of no more than one and one-half (1 1/2) hours in duration each. Such meetings will be held on Monday, shall be called by an administrator and shall commence immediately upon school dismissal. If Monday is a holiday, the faculty meeting may be scheduled on Tuesday of the same week.
After School Meetings. (1) Unit members may be required to remain after school for approximately one hour to attend each of the following staff meetings:
(a) Superintendent’s Staff Meetings- No more than four (4) per year, to be conducted by the Superintendent or his/her designee to address issues that affect the district or the level (elementary, middle, or high) as a whole. However, said meetings do not need to be convened in a single location.
(b) Two days each month building meeting called by the school principal or the principal’s designee.
(c) One day each month for any one of the following: Department meetings, grade level meeting, or special group meetings as authorized by the Superintendent, Department Head, School Principal, or their designees.
(d) Unit members taking graduate courses vital to their program, which cannot be obtained at any other time in conflict with after school meetings, may request permission to be excused from after school meetings.
(2) Except in cases of emergencies, agendas will be prepared and distributed to all unit members at least one day prior to the meeting.
(3) Unit members shall attend one scheduled Open House per year in the school to which they are assigned and shall be available for two evenings each school year for parental conferences, as necessary, for those parents who are unable to meet with the unit members during the school day. Such evenings shall be scheduled well in advance, but not on vacations, holidays or weekends. A unit member shall not be required to attend if the unit member and a parent have scheduled no parental conference or requested by a parent through the administration. Any specific plans for evening parent conferences will be discussed and developed with the SEA prior to placement on the official school calendar voted on by the BOE.
After School Meetings. After school meetings shall begin as soon as possible after the student dismissal time and shall not last over one hour. Meetings shall not be called on Fridays or on any day immediately preceding any holiday or other day upon which teacher attendance is not required at school except in an emergency.
After School Meetings. Effective September 1, 2011, except in emergencies, no bargaining unit member (Department Heads and Curriculum Coordinators excluded) shall be required to attend more than eighteen (18) meetings per school year called by the administration. Whenever possible, three (3) work days notice and an agenda shall be provided. Meetings shall be limited to one (1) hour in length and begin no later than fifteen (15) minutes after the end of the student day. IEP meetings, meetings with parents, meetings initiated by other teachers, and meetings for which an employee receives a stipend shall not be subject to these limitations.
After School Meetings a. In addition to the normal workday and the staff development activities outlined in Section 7 of this Article, members of the staff agree to participate in necessary professional activities involving a reasonable amount of time before and/or after school.
b. All staff members in each building shall be required to attend the traditional fall evening Open House. Principals may excuse staff members from said Open House for good cause. No staff member shall be required to attend more than one evening Open House per year.
c. Any Unit A staff member whose duties normally require attendance at evening meetings or seminars in excess of those described in clause b above and Section 7 of this Article shall receive compensatory time.
d. In order to attend building and department meetings or participate in committee assignments, staff members may be required to remain after the end of the normal workday without additional compensation for not more than two (2) meetings per month, each of duration of not more than one-half (½) hour beyond the normal workday, or one (1) meeting per month extending not more than 1 hour beyond the regular workday. In case of emergency, this number may be increased at the discretion of the Administration. Notice to the affected staff members, together with an agenda, shall be given for any meeting expected to last beyond the end of the teacher’s normal workday. Such notice shall be given at least three (3) school days in advance of such a meeting, except in the case of an emergency. Principals may excuse staff members from all or part of any such meeting for good cause.
e. No staff member, with the exception of Department Chairpersons and Directors, shall be required to participate in more than one (1) committee assignment per year.
After School Meetings. 1. Teachers will be required to attend one (1) Meet the Teacher Night and two (2) nighttime parent-teacher student conferences per year. Such conferences will be scheduled at least thirty
After School Meetings. 5.6.3-1 Each Principal may schedule up to seventy-five (75) minutes of teacher meeting time after student dismissal, ending no later than 4:30, no more than once a week, and no more than three (3) times per month. This time may be used for faculty meetings or for other professional level work such as school improvement, curriculum development, assessment development, professional development, and the like.
5.6.3-2 At the start of each school year, the Principal, in consultation with the faculty, will develop and distribute an annual meeting schedule.
5.6.3-3 The Principal will notify teachers of such meetings at least two days in advance, except in emergencies, and will include an agenda, location, start time, meeting length, and required attendees.
5.6.3-4 The Principal may schedule more total hours per day of meeting time outside the regular teacher work day and/or more frequent meetings only with approval of local Association reps.
5.6.3-5 Teachers will have the option of completing an anonymous evaluation of after-school meetings. The Superintendent and Principals, in consultation with the Association, will develop a standard meeting evaluation form, which will be available in every school and submitted simultaneously to the Principal and Superintendent. The Superintendent will review these meeting evaluations with the Principal at least semi-annually, with the goal of incorporating constructive feedback from teachers into future meeting planning.
After School Meetings. All professional staff shall attend nine (9) required staff meetings per year.
a. Required staff meetings shall occur on the first or second Wednesday of each month September through May. The dates will be announced before the start of each school year.
b. If any of these dates must be canceled due to unforeseen closures of school, they will be rescheduled.
c. Such meetings shall conclude no more than one (1) hour after contractual release time.
After School Meetings. Teachers shall be required to attend the following meetings beyond the 7 hour and 20-minute day:
A. Periodic staff in-service meetings may be called by the Superintendent during the school year.
B. A total of nine building meetings involving the entire staff may be called by the principal during any school year. Additional meetings may be called with voluntary attendance.
C. Teachers shall be required to attend the first parent-teacher organization meeting and "Open House", which shall be held on the same day, except as excused by the principal. Attendance at other parent teacher organization meetings is encouraged.
D. No building meeting shall extend more than one hour in length. (Committees are excluded.)
After School Meetings. The administrator in charge shall end required teacher after school meetings no later than two (2) hours following student dismissal (not including plan time), unless the participants unanimously consent to continue. After-school meeting agendas will be published at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting, and the administrator in charge shall identify participants who need to attend. Staff breakout sessions may be utilized where appropriate. Meetings shall not be longer than 2 hours but may be divided into 1-hour blocks as needed.
