The 'During the School Year' clause defines the specific terms, conditions, or obligations that apply while the academic year is in session. This clause typically outlines responsibilities, schedules, or restrictions that are only relevant when school is actively being conducted, such as attendance requirements, use of facilities, or provision of services. Its core function is to clearly delineate which rules or expectations are limited to the school year, thereby preventing confusion about when certain obligations are in effect.
During the School Year. Teachers involuntarily transferred during the school year will be given the option of either two (2) days per diem or three (3) days release time as compensation for the inconvenience attendant to the transfer.
During the School Year. 1. When any vacancy occurs during the school year, notice of such vacancy will be posted at a designated place in each school and a copy of said notice will be sent to the President of the Association at the same time.
2. Such position(s) will not be filled, except on a temporary basis, until ten (10) school days after the notice of vacancy is posted.
During the School Year. 11.6.1.1 Posting of vacancies - As soon as the District has determined a vacancy will be filled, the Personnel Department shall mail a vacancy notice to the Association and to each work site for posting on designated bulletin boards. Supplemental vacancy lists shall be posted as vacancies become known following March 15.
During the School Year. Each employee shall indicate on a yearly calendar their vacation request for a specified number of weeks during the school year not later than September 1. These vacation request shall be assigned on the basis of seniority and workload requirements on a building by building basis. Not more than one employee is guaranteed a vacation during the school year time without prior approval of the Administration. Vacation during the school year shall be approved on the basis of five (5) consecutive workdays. If the employee wishes to cancel their proposed vacation time, they shall not give less than one
(1) week’s notification of cancellation. If an employee has not selected a vacation time prior to September 1, or who after September 1 cancels their designated vacation time, may request additional vacation periods, if open, upon three (3) weeks notification to the employer. If an employee cancels their proposed vacation twice during the school year, said employee forfeits their right to a vacation during the school year and forfeits the allotted requested vacation time.
During the School Year. While School is in session, inclusive of summer classes, NORDC shall use the Recreational Improvements in accordance with the following schedule:
A. Monday – Friday: 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
B. Saturday: 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
C. Sunday: as needed or available.
D. Legal/School Holidays/Official Closures: as needed.
During the School Year. All district vacancies shall be posted on an Association bulletin board in each school building for a minimum of five (5) working days.
During the School Year a. The Board shall not be required to post a vacancy occurring after the third Friday in August. Any such vacancy may be posted or be filled on a temporary basis as provided in b. below.
b. Any vacancy occurring after the third Friday in August may, at the Board’s option, either be posted in each school building for three (3) working days with a copy to the Association or be filled on a temporary basis for the remainder of the current school year with a teacher who has a valid Michigan certificate, or who can be fully qualified for such a certificate within ninety (90) days after employment. Exceptions to the foregoing will be made in the case of teachers in the vocational training programs for whom the Board can obtain an annual vocational authorization. In the event a teacher does not fulfill these requirements during the ninety (90) day period, the teacher’s appointment may be voided and the teacher placed on layoff status.
c. No vacancies which occur after the third Friday in August will be filled with day-to-day substitute teachers after the third Monday in September unless the District is unable to hire an acceptable certified and qualified permanent or temporary teacher to fill the vacancy after making a reasonable effort to do so. Upon request, the Board shall provide the Association with information about vacancies occurring after the Friday before school begins, including existing vacancies, efforts made to fill such vacancies and dates of interviews scheduled to fill the vacancies.
d. Temporary assignments, if continued, shall be posted for the next school year.
During the School Year a. The normal in-school workday, not including normal and traditional extra curricular activities of the teaching profession, shall consist of seven (7) hours.
b. 2007-2008: School holidays include: Columbus Day, NJEA Convention, Thanksgiving, Winter Recess, Presidents Days, Spring Recess, and Memorial Day. 2008-2009, 2009-2010: School holidays include: Yom Kippur, NJEA Convention, Thanksgiving, Winter Recess, ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇. Day, Presidents Days, Spring Recess, and Memorial Day.
c. All teachers will indicate their presence in their building by signing in and signing out.
d. The normal workday hours of the teacher may be flexed whenever it is mutually agreeable to both the principal and the staff members. Upon the approval of the Superintendent of Schools and the staff member’s immediate supervisor, a teacher may flex a normal workday.
e. Teachers will be at their assigned stations as designated by the principal or designee at least 20 minutes before the opening of the pupil school day.
f. On Fridays and days preceding all school holidays and education days listed in Paragraph 3b the departure time may be reduced to 10 minutes or after all scheduled buses have departed whichever is the later. School holidays include NJEA Convention, Thanksgiving, Winter Recess, Presidents’ and Spring Recess, ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇, ▇▇. Day, and Memorial Day.
g. When school is in session the day prior to December 24 the normal in-school workday for teachers will be a minimum four-hour student day. On the days set forth herein, the departure time for teachers and teacher assistants may be reduced to 10 minutes or after all scheduled buses have departed, whichever is the later.
During the School Year. If a vacancy occurs due to a resignation, retirement, death, newly created position, or a leave of one year or more, the position shall be posted. The vacancy shall be filled from those applicants fulfilling the posting requirements.
During the School Year. Vacancies which occur in regular classroom positions (as opposed to supplemental contract positions) during the school year will be posted when a vacancy occurs. The position will be filled on a temporary basis and such employment will automatically end at the conclusion of the current school year. The contract of a person hired to fill such position shall clearly state that the employment will end at the conclusion of the school year. The position will be vacant and posted during the summer months in accordance with the terms of this Article. The provisions of this contract governing evaluation and the provisions of Am. Sub. H.B. 330, enacted in 1988, shall not be applicable to teachers hired for the remainder of the school year under this provision.
