Hold over. A hold over is an occurrence where there is a known person who has accepted the overtime prior to the start of shift, but the employee will not make it to their assigned duty station for the day by the start of shift. In this case, because there is an identified employee accepting the overtime, any employee in the building at this time can be a hold over for the incoming overtime person. This Hold Over scenario is on a voluntary basis. If no employee volunteers to hold over for the necessary duration of time then the appropriate Force Back list should be utilized in order to meet the staffing levels outlined in Section 14.11. If this timeframe is equal to or greater than one (1) hour then the name of the now forced employee will move to the bottom of the established force back list. Employee’s being held over will be paid their appropriate overtime rate for the duration of their work.
