Crediting of Sick Leave. Sick leave credit shall be earned at the rate of 4.6 hours for each eighty (80) hours of service in active pay status, including paid vacation, overtime and sick leave up to a maximum yearly accumulation of one hundred twenty (120) hours, but not during a leave of absence, suspension, or layoff. Unused sick leave shall accumulate without limit.

Crediting of Sick Leave. 12.01 (a) A regular employee shall be entitled to accumulate sick leave credits at the rate of two (2) days per month worked. Sick leave shall be prorated for part-time employees.
Crediting of Sick Leave. All employees shall earn sick leave at the rate of one and one quarter (1-1/4) days per month. Employees shall not accumulate sick leave during the school calendar year (the contracted school year) when they are not in active pay status (excluding winter and spring recess). Employees contracted to work longer than the contracted school year shall earn additional sick leave at that rate of one and one-quarter (1-1/4) days per month (prorated if the employee is in active pay status for less than one full month in any month of employment. Employees hired on or before September 1, 2012, shall accumulate sick leave without limit. Employees hired after September 1, 2012, shall accumulate sick leave up to a maximum of two hundred thirty-five (235) days. When the earning of sick leave is prorated, the proration shall be calculated in one-half (1/2) hour units.

Secretaries Reporting to Work or on Paid Leave at the Beginning of Their Contract Year: Each secretary covered by this Agreement shall be credited with one ( 1) day of paid sick leave for each month of work. Crediting of Sick Leave. At the beginning of the fiscal year following the employee's original employment, the employee shall be credited with the unused portion of accrued sick leave plus the full year's sick leave for the fiscal year.

Employees under contract to work the summer school program shall earn one (1) additional day of sick leave based on fifteen (15) workdays during summer school. If an employee is in active pay status less than fifteen (15) days, the awarding of sick leave shall be prorated. Summer school employees may also use their accumulated sick leave, during the summer school program, in accordance with the usage provisions set forth in this Article. Unused sick leave shall accumulate without limit. When the earning of sick leave is prorated, the proration shall be calculated in one-half (1/2) hour units.

For employees hired prior to January 1, 2015, a conversion rate of two-thirds (2/3's) of the accumulated sick leave shall be paid in cash upon retirement or layoff with no recall from the City. For employees hired as full time employees on or after January 1, 2015 upon retirement, after 10 or more years of service to the City, an employee of the City shall be paid for one-fourth (1/4) of the employee’s unused sick leave days, but not to exceed 800 hours regardless of the accumulated sick leave amount.
