Wheelchair electric-driven wheelchair shall be carried free of charge, in addition to the baggage allowance. Carriage of electric-driven wheelchair shall be performed under observing the following conditions: the electric-driven wheelchair batteries shall be safely secured to it preliminarily disconnected and isolated to prevent a short circuit. Should the wheelchair be not possible to load, secure and unload only in vertical position, then the battery shall be lifted away. Thereafter, the wheelchair can be carried without restrictions as the checked-in baggage. The battery lifted away shall be carried in a pressurized chemical-resistant package. The battery shall be correspondingly marked. Liquid batteries shall only be carried in vertical position. Carriage of ion-lithium batteries shall only be performed in the airplane cabin in a pressurized package, with terminals of the battery isolated, as per IATA DGR Packing Instruction 800.
