Accrual Limits. At the commencement of this Agreement, the City will calculate and “bank” any sick leave hours accrued by an employee in excess of one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) hours. Those hours will become payable to the employee when that employee retires. That employee will then be paid a sum equal to one (1) hour worked, at the employee’s regular straight time rate in the pay period prior to the pay period containing the date of August 15, 2003, for every three (3) hours banked by the City at the commencement of the Agreement. The City shall provide a document detailing the amount of hours banked, the rate of pay they will be reimbursed at, and the total they will be reimbursed, immediately after the hours have been deducted from the employee’s sick leave bank. A copy of this documentation is to be provided to each affected employee, and a duplicate copy is to be placed in each affected employee’s personnel file.
Accrual Limits. Vacation shall be taken at the convenience of the City with the approval of the department head. Where possible, such vacation should be taken annually and not accumulated from year to year. All eligible employees, however, shall only be allowed to accumulate vacation in an amount equal to two times their annual accrual rate (“Maximum Accrual”). Once Maximum Accrual is reached, it is intended that employees not be entitled to accrue additional vacation until the amount of accumulated vacation is reduced to a level below Maximum Accrual. If the employee is prohibited by the supervisor from taking the employee's vacation because of staffing shortages or operational need, the employee shall be paid for the period of advance authorized vacation. Such vacation shall be approved by the Department Head and paid at the employee’s regular hourly rate of pay in effect for the scheduled period of vacation. Starting with January 2018 vacation accruals, the balance of vacation leave earned must not exceed Maximum Accrual. An employee will not be allowed to accrue vacation that exceeds the Maximum Accrual until the vacation balance falls below the Maximum Accrual.
Accrual Limits. No full-time unit member shall accrue more than 30 days or 240 hours of vacation. Accrual limits for less than full-time unit members shall be at the same ratio as their work schedule bears to the accrual limit. Vacation accrual will cease once limit is reached.

Accrual Limits. Vacation shall be taken at the convenience of the City with the approval of the department head. Where possible, such vacation should be taken annually and not accumulated from year to year. All eligible employees, however, shall be allowed to accumulate two (2) years allowance of vacation. Time shall be banked at a rate of 1.5 times the number of hours worked (e.g., 24 hours worked equals 36 hours banked). A maximum of 72 hours may be held in the bank at any one time. If time worked is to be banked, all of it must be banked (i.e., if 7 hours worked, all 7 must be banked if electing to do so). However, if the full amount would cause the balance accrued to exceed the maximum 72 hours, only that which will bring the balance to 72 hours will be banked and the remainder will be paid as overtime.
