Jury or Witness Duty Leave. 23.7.1 Where an employee is absent by reason of a summons to serve as a juror or a subpoena as a witness, the employee may, at his or her option:

Jury or Witness Duty Leave a) An employee who is absent from work as a result of being subpoenaed to be a witness in a court, or who is required to serve on a jury, shall be paid their normal salary while absent.
Jury or Witness Duty Leave. 23.7.1 An employee required to serve on jury duty or as a witness in a case in which the employee has been given a subpoena to attend a court proceeding in which the Crown is a party, shall not lose regular pay because of necessary absence from work due to such attendance, shall not be required to work on the day of such duty and shall not be required to work the night shift immediately prior to such attendance. The Hospital shall not unreasonably deny any necessary schedule changes to accommodate such duty. The employee shall not be required to work extra hours as a result of such duty or accommodations made to allow attendance at such duty. Employee attendance for jury or witness duty shall be treated as a work day for the employee, provided that the employee:
Jury or Witness Duty Leave. (a) An employee on jury or witness duty leave shall suffer no loss of daily wages and may retain jury duty or witness fees in addition to their regular pay for any day on which they are absent from scheduled School District duties because they have been summoned for jury duty or because they have been subpoenaed for appearance in court as a witness at a time conflicting with their regular duties.
Jury or Witness Duty Leave. A bargaining unit employee who is required to serve jury duty or who receives a subpoena and is required to miss work as a result of complying with the subpoena, will be granted an administrative leave with pay, except as otherwise provided in this Section.

After demonstrating proof of jury duty service, the employee shall keep the check. If a bargaining unit employee is required to participate in legal proceedings as a result of his employment with the Village on an off-duty day, such employee will be compensated for all hours worked with a two (2) hour minimum guarantee. Actual hours worked shall count as hours worked for purpose of paying overtime. If an employee receives compensation, the employee shall endorse those fees, (less documented travel expenses) to the Village. Any appearance fees paid to the employee when he appears in his official capacity as a Palatine employee shall be surrendered to the Village.
Jury or Witness Duty Leave. Regular full-time or regular part-time employees shall receive full pay for time not worked while serving on jury duty for the term of the jury service, or testifying as a witness on behalf of the Village, or testifying pursuant to a subpoena regarding matters related to their employment with the Village. To receive full pay, employees shall endorse or turn over to the Village any payment received for such jury or witness duty, such as jury pay vouchers and checks, or other forms of compensation for witness fees. The employee will then receive his regular paycheck at the regular time. Employees summoned to jury duty or subpoenaed to testify in court or other proceedings must immediately notify their Department Head so that proper arrangements for the employee’s absence may be made. Failure to notify their Department Head in a timely manner may result in the employee not being compensated for such civic duty. Employees serving on jury duty or as a witness on behalf of the Village will continue to accrue vacation, sick leave, and other similar benefits. No employee shall receive pay for time not worked while testifying as a witness in a case filed by the employee against the Village, its officers or employees, or in a case which is personal and not related to Village operations or the employee’s employment with the Village.

Jury or Witness Duty Leave. Employees covered by this Agreement who are required to serve on a jury shall sign their jury duty checks over to the Employer. The Employer shall compensate such Employees, at their regular rate of pay, for each regularly scheduled work hour actually spent on jury duty, up to eight (8) hours per day. Employees whose shift length is more than eight (8) hours per day must bridge the difference by either reporting for work, or by using accrued compensatory leave. If an Employee does not have any accrued compensatory leave, he shall use other accrued leave (other than sick leave) to bridge the difference. If an Employee has no accrued leave to use, the Employee must report to work.
Jury or Witness Duty Leave. A full time employee whose service on a jury or appearance as a witness for the Village occurs during hours that the employee would have been regularly scheduled to work shall receive full pay in addition to any fees received. This provision shall not apply to an employee’s court appearances on personal matters or where the employee is the plaintiff or claimant and the Village is a defendant, or where the Village is suing the employee.
Jury or Witness Duty Leave. The Employer shall grant leave of absence to an employee subpoenaed to serve as a juror or witness in any court. The Employer shall pay such employee the difference between his regular earnings and the payment he receives for jury or witness duty excluding payment for travelling, meals or other expenses, conditional upon the employee presenting proof of service and proof of the amount of pay received. Leave of absence without pay shall be granted to any employee whose private affairs require his appearance in court.
