Temporary Full-Time Faculty. Visiting Faculty The University may hire Visiting Faculty under any appropriate title on a temporary full- time basis. Such individuals may be paid from donated endowment, overhead funds, grants, or any other source including state funding. Where state positions are used for this purpose they shall normally be "backfills." The aggregate number of full time visiting faculty from all sources in any given year shall not exceed a number equal to 10% of the total bargaining unit positions. No individual visiting full-time faculty member may remain at the University of Massachusetts Lowell as such for a period in excess of eight consecutive academic semesters. Visiting full-time faculty positions filled for four consecutive academic years will be converted to Professional Teaching non- tenure track positions or terminated. Visiting faculty are exempt from the obligation to join the union or make alternative payment and may not receive any contractual benefits. No tenured faculty member may be retrenched while a visiting faculty member is continued. Bargaining unit full-time faculty may engage in temporary faculty exchanges with faculty at other institutions with University approval under established procedures, restrictions, arrangements and time limits. The individual from the other institution teaching at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the place of the bargaining unit member is exempt from union membership and payment obligations and shall not receive any contractual benefits. In no other cases may faculty bargaining unit work and its accompanying academic responsibilities be performed on either a temporary or permanent full-time basis except by bargaining unit members who are tenured or tenure-track faculty holding, as the case may be, the ranks of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, or who are full-time non-tenure track faculty, under terms and conditions controlled by this Agreement.

Temporary Full-Time Faculty. A full-time temporary faculty employee must be evaluated in writing at least once by the end of the academic year in which he/she is employed, following the process and timeline detailed in the Faculty Peer Review Handbook.
Temporary Full-Time Faculty. The College may employ temporary full-time faculty subject to the restrictions in this section. The department in which the temporary full-time faculty serves shall recommend the individual to serve in this capacity, subject to the approval of the academic xxxx. Temporary full-time faculty shall have an individual letter of appointment for employment which provides them monetary compensation equal to the monetary compensation for a faculty member at Step 1. The individual letter of appointment for employment shall have a duration of not more than one semester according to the approved Academic Calendar. The letter of appointment may be renewed by the College each semester. The College shall notify OCCFA in writing within one week of the appointment, or renewal, of any temporary full-time faculty with a copy or detailed description of their individual contract of employment. No temporary full-time appointment may exceed ten (10) months. If the College and OCCFA agree to extend the temporary full-time appointment for any period in excess of ten (10) months, that individual will receive benefits in accordance with Appendix G, sections 1, 2 and 3 but is not eligible for any other rights or benefits conferred under this FMA. Temporary full-time faculty will not be considered as internal bidders for faculty vacancies that are posted during their contract period. The College shall notify the temporary full-time faculty in writing at the time of their hire as follows: “As a temporary full-time employee, the faculty union (OCCFA) does not represent you in any employment related matter. The terms of the current Faculty Master Agreement do not apply to your employment with the College. The acceptance of this temporary full- time position does not give you any greater rights to employment as permanent full-time faculty at the College.”
Temporary Full-Time Faculty. ‌ Full-time faculty members may be hired on a temporary basis only as temporary replacements for regular faculty members on leave from the University, for experimental new programs, or for such special limited purposes as deemed necessary by the Vice President for Academic Affairs after consultation with the Association. So long as these special conditions are part of the written understanding reached prior to employment, it is agreed that when the special conditions which brought about the need for such employment cease, the said temporary faculty member's employment may be terminated immediately, without resort to any other provision of this agreement. The letter of appointment for any temporary full-time faculty member shall designate the beginning and ending dates of such appointment and shall serve as official notice of termination at the end of the one year. During such period of employment, however, other terms of this agreement shall apply to such faculty member if such faculty member meets the other tests set forth in the recognition clause of this agreement, except for the following: serving on search committees, voting in election of department chairpersons, or voting on matters of tenure and promotion or other PPC related issues. Temporary faculty members may vote in faculty ratification of CAPC, General Education and Graduate Committee recommendations. No person may be hired under this provision for an established program for more than one year, nor may any person having served under such a one year temporary full-time contract be continued for additional employment, nor may a temporary full-time appointment be replaced by a second faculty member on a temporary full-time appointment under this provision without prior approval by the Association unless such person is offered a regular full-time contract. Persons hired to implement a new program may be placed on a two-year temporary full-time contract upon initial appointment and additional years of such an appointment may be granted with prior approval of the Association.
Temporary Full-Time Faculty. 3.14.A. Temporary full‐time faculty shall be paid on a monthly basis, from the first day of assignment, limited to a maximum salary equal to Step 8 in Class I on the contract faculty salary scale when such assignment occurs, in accordance with Education Code §87480, §87481, and §87482, under one of the following conditions:

  • Temporary Nurse Any nurse who is employed for a specified period of time not to exceed three (3) months, or any nurse who is employed to fill positions because of any combination of leaves of absence, vacations, holidays, and sick leave for a period of time not to exceed six (6) months.

After a Temporary Road has served Purchaser’s pur- pose, Purchaser shall give notice to Forest Service and shall remove bridges and culverts, eliminate ditches, out- slope roadbed, remove ruts and berms, effectively block the road to normal vehicular traffic where feasible under existing terrain conditions, and build cross ditches and water bars, as staked or otherwise marked on the ground by Forest Service. When bridges and culverts are re- moved, associated fills shall also be removed to the ex- tent necessary to permit normal maximum flow of water.

  • Full-Time Union Office Upon application by the Union, in writing, the Hospital will give reasonable consideration to a request for leave of absence, without pay, to an employee elected or appointed to full time Union office. It is understood that no more than one (1) employee in the bargaining unit may be on such leave at the same time. Such leave, if granted, shall be for a period of one (1) calendar year (in the case of the Union President, two (2) calendar years) from the date of appointment unless extended for a further specific period by agreement of the parties. Seniority and service shall accumulate during such leave to the maximum provided, if any, under the provisions of the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment of any applicable benefits in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence.
