Special Shifts. When due to conditions beyond the control of the Employer or when contract specifications require that work can only be performed outside the regular day shift, then a special shift, upon three (3) days written notice to the Union may be worked, Monday through Friday at the straight time rate. The starting time of work will be arranged to fit such conditions of work. Such shifts shall consist of eight (8) hours of work for eight (8) hours of pay or ten (10) hours of work for ten (10) hours of pay on a four-ten shift.

If work cannot be performed on the regular shift because of the fact that establishments cannot suspend operations during the day, a special single shift may be employed starting at a time coinciding with required operations of the establishment, Monday through Friday, the Employer shall produces evidence in writing to the Union twenty-four (24) hours in advance of a bona fide job requirement that work can only be performed outside of or in addition to the regular day shift due to safety conditions or other requirements if the special shift is to last five (5) or more days..

The starting time of work will be arranged to fit such conditions of work. Such shift shall consist of eight (8) hours work for eight (8) hours pay or ten (10) hours work for ten (10) hours pay for four ten shifts. In the event the special shift is less than forty (40) hours in duration the Employee will receive an additional $1.00 per hour special shift premium. This premium pay does not apply to work outside the normal shift that is paid in accordance with Article 17, Overtime.
Special Shifts. Due to the nature of work at the NNSS, the parties agree that if required by the Customer or Employer, “special shifts” other than those specified in this Article, may be established for a minimum of three (3) days. An Employee shall work eight (8) or ten (10) consecutive hours exclusive of the meal period for which they will receive a fifty ($0.50) cent premium flat rate which will become the base rate of pay Monday through Thursday. All time worked on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays shall be paid at the appropriate overtime rate. It is recognized that certain special shifts may require modifications to provisions contained in this Article, not to include rates of pay and/or shift premiums. The Employer will give notification in writing, twenty- four (24) hours in advance, for work that can only be performed outside the regular day shift due to safety concerns or other project requirements.

Special shifts may be provided for an Individual Employer with the mutual consent of the Union and the Employer prior to bidding for remodel and rehabilitation work on existing buildings and structures. Such Special Shifts must establish a set starting time and be for five (5) or more work days of seven (7) hours per shift at the hourly rate as set forth in this Article and the wage and fringe benefit addendum plus 20%. This percentage is to be calculated using the gross taxable wage prior to any 401(A) deductions. No employee shall be shorted any hours or have a shortened work week as a result of working a special shift.

Special Shifts a. Special 8-hour shifts may be established for certain operations and/or jobs or departments requiring special treatment. Such shifts shall constitute the regular shift schedule for Employees scheduled to work on such shifts.
