Consecutive Hours. The regular hours of work each day shall be consecutive except that they may be interrupted by unpaid lunch periods. No split shifts will be implemented without the mutual agreement of the Local Union and the Appointing Authority. Each party may cancel such agreement with thirty (30) days written notice to the other party.

There shall be no split shifts assigned or required except as mutually agreed to by the Association and the Appointing Authority. Regularly scheduled days off shall normally be consecutive. Supervisors desiring to get off evening and/or night shift duty in continuous operations shall request such reassignments in writing to the Appointing Authority.

The employee may choose, except in cases of emergency, not to work more than twelve (12) consecutive hours, excluding meal periods, of combined call back time and regular shift time. An employee who is called back to work outside their scheduled work shift shall be paid a minimum of three (3) hours’ pay at the overtime rate. After three (3) hours’ work, in each call back situation, the employee shall be compensated at the appropriate rate of pay for the remaining time worked. Call back pay begins when an employee reaches their primary work location or the location to which they were called. Call back pay ends when the employee ends work at their primary location or the location to which they were called.

If an employee scheduled to work 8 hour shifts works more than twelve (12) consecutive hours within a twenty-four (24) hour period, all work performed in excess of twelve (12) consecutive hours shall be paid at the double time (2x) rate. If an employee scheduled to work ten (10) hour shifts works more than twelve (12) consecutive hours within a twenty-four (24) hour period, all work performed in excess of twelve (12) consecutive hours shall be paid at the double time (2x) rate. If an employee scheduled to work twelve (12) hour shifts works more than fourteen (14) consecutive hours within a twenty-four (24) hour period, all work performed in excess of fourteen (14) consecutive hours shall be paid at the double time (2x) rate If an employee is assigned a 40-hour variable shift, overtime and double time will apply as described above based on the shift length assigned for that particular shift and 24 hour period.
Consecutive Hours. (2) When a 12 hour shift employee works in excess of sixteen (16) consecutive hours.
Consecutive Hours. (a)Employees shall not be permitted to work more than 16 consecutive hours. Any employee working 16 consecutive hours shall not be permitted to return to work within 8 hours.
Consecutive Hours. The normal shift schedules shall provide for either a five (5) day on-duty, two (2) day off-duty, a four (4) day on-duty, three day off-duty, or a three (3) day on-duty, three (3) day off-duty shift arrangement. The Employer shall have the right to determine reasonable hours of work. Patrol shifts shall utilize either a twelve (12) hour shift with three days on and three days off, or a ten (10) hour shift with four (4) days on and three (3) days off. In the event either party desires a change to eight (8) hour shifts the work week can be modified by mutual agreement between the City and the Guild. Criminal investigations, Community Health and Safety Section, and narcotics detectives and detective sergeants (excluding the administrative polygraph examiner), and Office of Professional Standards Sergeant shall utilize a ten (10) hour shift with four (4) days on and three (3) days off unless modified as provided for in the preceding clause. Hours and days of work may be flexed upon agreement between the employee and a supervisor (this will not create a permanent shift.) Other staff, training, technical, administrative officers and polygraph examiners shall normally work an eight (8) hour shift with five (5) days on and two (2) days off on the standard forty
Consecutive Hours. Section 3. All eligible employees shall be compensated at the rate of time and one-half (1-1/2) their regular hourly straight time rate of pay for overtime. No application of this Article shall be construed or interpreted to provide for compensation for overtime at a rate exceeding time and one-half (1-1/2), or to effect a "pyramiding" of overtime, i.e. time and one-half (1-1/2) of time and time and one-half (1-1/2).
Consecutive Hours. The commencing and ending times of the workday may be altered by mutual agreement of the administration and the building teaching staff. All part-time contracts shall consist of consecutive hours of employment unless by mutual agreement. The starting and ending times shall be set by the Board for each individual contract. Regular staff meetings, regular conferences, and supplemental duties shall not be subject to this provision.
