SECTION STATUTORY HOLIDAYS. (a) An eligibleemployee shall receivea Statu- tory Holiday Allowance for each legal holiday hereinafterlistedwithout beingrequiredto render service on that day. The Holidaysto which such allowance shall apply are: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, LabourDay, ThanksgivingDay, ChristmasDay, Boxing Day. Inadditionto such legal holidays, eligible employ- ees shall receivea Statutory HolidayAllowance for one (1) FloatingHoliday. The day on which this holidaywill be observedwill be decided by agree- ment between the parties. An employee is eligiblefor this payment if he has thirty (30) days or more continuousservice with the Company and has worked his regular shift upon the working day preceding such holiday and also his regular shift upon the first working day succeeding such holiday. However, payment for the holiday will be made if the employee worked during the week but is absent on the above days due to illness, death in the immedi- ate family, jury duty, compensation, or if he has been sent home duringthe week in which the hol- iday occurs for lack of work or if he has obtained prior permission from his supervisor to be absent. In the event that the employee is unable to con- tact supervision in his department, he may con- tact the IndustrialRelationsOffice or the Security Office to assist the employee in contactingsuper- vision. Employees will not be paid for legal holidays if they are absent from work more than fifteen (15) days before the holiday fifteen (15) days after the holiday due to illness or any other reason except compensation.
