To Return to Work Clause Samples

The "To Return to Work" clause outlines the conditions and procedures under which an employee may resume their duties following an absence, such as due to illness, injury, or leave. Typically, this clause specifies any required documentation, such as a medical certificate, and may detail any assessments or approvals needed before the employee can return. Its core function is to ensure that employees are fit to resume work, protecting both the individual and the organization from health or safety risks.
To Return to Work a) The Employee shall confirm in writing to the Personnel Office of the Division of Human Resources the Employee's intention of resuming employment at least sixty (60) days in advance of availability date or expiration of leave, whichever occurs first. b) The Employee may be required to satisfactorily pass a return to work physical examination at the University Health Service.
To Return to Work a) The Employee shall notify the Human Resources Division of date of return at least one (1) month prior to anticipated return date and confirms same again at least one (1) week prior to said date so arrangements may be made for return-to-work physical examination, if deemed necessary by the University. b) If the following conditions arise during the leave, a Physician's Report on Illness of Employee must be filled out by the Employee's physician and presented by the Employee to the Health Service at the time of examination: 1) An illness of two (2) or more consecutive weeks 2) Surgery 3) Hospitalization c) The Employee may be required to satisfactorily pass a physical examination at the Health Service.
To Return to Work a. If the Employee is off, due to illness, for more than 15 continuous work days, he/she shall confirm with the day shift uniformed supervisor (with the submission of acceptable medical documentation) his/her intention of resuming employment (including the date of return) at least 5 working days (Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm) in advance of his/her return to duty date. b. The Employer in turn shall give notice to the Employee within one working day of the Employee’s notice, if the Employer intends to require the Employee to attend a return-to-work physical examination or a specialist appointment. c. The Employee must satisfactorily pass a return to work physical examination at the University Health Service or a specialist of the Employer’s choosing. Should the scheduling of, or the results from, the physical examination delay the Employee’s actual return to work, the Employee shall be responsible for one half of the delay period until their return (using their own leave to cover half of the delay period).
