BENEFITS AND SICK LEAVE. (a) The Employer shall maintain the existing Group Life and Health Insurance policy, or a plan providing at least equal benefits, in effect at the signing of this agreement during the life of this agreement.

BENEFITS AND SICK LEAVE. 19.01 In addition to the Canada Pension Plan, every permanent employee shall join the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Scheme. The Employer and the employees shall make contributions in accordance with the provisions of the Plan.

An employee who is absent from work as a result of an illness or injury sustained at work and who has been awaiting approval of a claim for Workers' Compensation for a period longer than one complete pay period may apply to the Hospital for payment equivalent to the lesser of the benefit she would receive from Workers' Compensation if her claim was approved, or the benefit to which she would be entitled under the short term sick portion of the disability income plan or equivalent plan). Payment will be provided only if the employee provides evidence of disability satisfactory to the Hospital and written undertaking satisfactory to the Hospital that any payments will be refunded to the Hospital following final determination of the claim by the Workers' Compensation Board. If the claim for workers' compensation is not approved, the monies paid as an advance will be applied towards the benefits to which the employee would be entitled under the short term portion of the disability income plan. BENEFITS AND SICK LEAVE. Unit members in this status shall receive the same health and welfare benefits provided to full-time unit members. For computation of sick leave, he or she shall be entitled to that portion of the paid sick leave per year provided in Article 7 corresponding to the member's annualized FTE service. For example, a member providing full-time service for one half of the service days under section V.C.2 immediately above (0.5 annualized FTE) shall be entitled to 50% of the paid sick leave provided in Article 7. All other rights and benefits shall be retained provided that the part-time unit member makes the same payments (if any) that would be required if still in full-time status.
BENEFITS AND SICK LEAVE. The Executive shall be covered by the pension and group benefit plans applicable to full-time non-union staff of the Employer as amended from time to time. The Executive shaH be entitled to the sick leave benefits available from time to time to full-time non-union staff of the Employer. For clarity the current benefit plans are listed, on the attached Schedule B.

The FlexMedia benefit plan for all full-time employees of Sun Media will be applicable to all full-time employees covered by this collective agreement and these employees will participate in such plan. The terms and conditions of the new benefits plan, including coverage of benefits, shall be no less than those described and disclosed to the union during negotiations. The employee pool will be unionized employees within Central and Western Canada. This pool will exclude the unionized employees in Eastern Canada (Quebec). Flex Media for unionized employees will be modified to provide for a 50/50 blended cost sharing approach for all premium increases. Though LTD is paid for entirely by the employee, increases in LTD will be included in the calculations of the blended approach. The company will take 50% of the premium increase / decrease and will increase / decrease the credits based on the table for single, couple or family selections. Part-time employees will continue to be covered under the prior benefit program if they so qualify. If, during the term of this collective agreement, a new benefit plan is introduced for all part-time employees of Sun Media, then that plan will be applicable to all part-time employees covered by this collective agreement and these employees will participate in such plan with the union’s consent, which shall not be unreasonably withheld. The company agrees to give all full-time employees on record at August 9, 2011 the choice of retiree benefits or an extra $700 annually to Health Care Spending accounts. For clarity, full time employees hired after August 9, 2011 are not eligible for either retiree benefits or the extra health care spending credits.
