TIME SERVICE. Vacations shall be scheduled in a manner which recognizes seniority in each department and also in a manner which will provide an equitable system of rotation of the selection of vacation times. Vacation schedules shall be posted by May 1st in each year and they shall not be adjusted there is mutual agreement by an employee and the Hospital. Clerical Vacations may be taken at any time of the year that is mutually acceptable to the parties. Requests for vacation shall be submitted in writing to the employee's immediate supervisor or his appointee at least eight (8) weeks before the time at which the employee proposesto commence his vacation or such lessertime as may be mutually agreed between the parties provided that there shall be a vacation request schedule posted in the middle of the month of February of each year in each area of the hospital covered by this Agreement. Only if there is conflict in requests made in the first eight after the schedule is posted, shall seniority prevail. Should an employee who has commenced his scheduled vacation and agrees upon request by the Hospital to return to perform work during the vacation period, the employee shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1 times his regular straight time rate of pay for all hours so worked. To replace the originally scheduled days on which such work was performed, the employee will receive one (1) vacation lieu day off for each day on which he has worked. Requests for consideration to permit carry over of vacation from one year to another (year end is employee's anniversary date) must be made in writing to the employee's manager.
