Workplace Insurance. If a full-time nurse is absent due to accident or injury occurring while on duty or illness inherent to occupation and is covered by Workplace Insurance, the nurse shall have the option of (where applicable):
Workplace Insurance a) In the case of an accident, which will be compensated by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, the Employer will pay the employee’s wages for the day on which the accident occurs.
Workplace Insurance. Full-time employees, including employees absent as a result of an workplace injury, will be required to produce a medical certificate completed by a qualified medical practitioner, within the first ten (10) days of absence. It will be necessary to renew such certificate(s) every four (4) calendar weeks, indicating the total period of absence and probable date of return to work. If an employee is absent due to accident or injury occurring while on duty or illness inherent to occupation and is covered by Workplace Insurance, the employee will retain Workplace Insurance cheques. All of the employee's benefits which are normally paid by the Employer will continue to be paid for a period of one (1) year, in accordance with the provisions of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, at which time the employee will become responsible for full payment of any subsidized employee benefits in which she is entitled to participate. The employee may arrange with the Employer to prepay the full premium of any applicable subsidized benefits. The employee is responsible for the employee's portion of OMERS payments, if applicable, until the first day of the fifth (5th) month of absence, at which time the employee is eligible to apply to OMERS for a Disability Waiver with regards to his/her OMERS.

Workplace Insurance. Each seniority employeewho is injured in the course of duty shall have Workplace Safety Insurance benefits supplemented the employee’s sick leave account to provide for the payment of full salary. In the event that an employee does not wish to use sick leave credits to supplement the Workplace Safety Insurance benefits, the employee must give immediate notice in writing to the Human Resources Department. After the expiration of any Workplace Safety Insurance award, the employee may use the current year’s sick leave or accumulated creditsup to the limit previously established. It should be understood that there shall be no or compounding of Board benefits with any other internal or external benefit. An employee on sick leave shall not be able to an amount of income greater than that which the employee earned while actively at work. Subject to a minimum notice of three (3) work days being given the employee’s supervisor, an employee may be granted with the approval of the Superintendent of Human Resources a leave of absence for one (1) work day through deduction of sick leave credit in any one school year. This absence may be approved because of extension of bereavement, compassionate leave, personal business or for the purpose of moving to a new place of residence where there is no alternative other than a day. This is limited to a maximum of one day for each school year. A leave of one (1) day with pay will be granted to permit an employee to attend at the delivery of the employee’s child. The following leaves, not chargeable to sick leave, are granted without loss of salary or benefits unless otherwisestated:
