Uniform and Protective Clothing. (a) In the event of an Employee (except Maintenance, Grounds and Green Keeping, Canteen and Uniform Shop Staff and Bus Drivers, General Operational Staff and Nurses classified according to clauses 12.1(c), (d) and (f)) being required by the Employer to wear a uniform or protective clothing, such uniform or protective clothing shall be provided by the Employer. Such uniform or protective clothing shall be laundered at the Employer’s expense or, by mutual agreement, the Employee shall be paid an amount per day as set out in Table 3Other Rates and Allowances of Schedule 1Salary Scales and Allowances.

Uniform and Protective Clothing. (a) Each employee required to carry a weapon shall continue to receive a monthly equipment allowance of $30, which is to be utilized towards the employee’s cost of providing and maintaining his/her duty weapon, belt, holster, handcuffs case, handcuffs, magazine pouch, chemical spray holder, baton ring, and baton.
Uniform and Protective Clothing. A. The initial issue of required uniforms, protective clothing, or any type of protective dress shall be furnished to the employee of the Town. Following the year of initial issue, employees shall receive the clothing allowance specified by the Agreement in paragraph D in the second full year and subsequent years of employment.

U2904 3002 In recognition of the fact that during the performance of their duties, employees may have their clothing or other personal property damaged, the Employer agrees to make appropriate compensation for same in accordance with the Facility’s policy.

Uniform and Protective Clothing. If any employee is required to wear a uniform, protective clothing or any type of protective device as a condition of employment, such uniform, protective clothing or protective device shall be furnished to the employee by the employer. The Town will provide for six uniform cleanings per month. In addition to the above-mentioned, employees shall be provided with boots, rain suits, winter gloves and any other foul weather clothing that is necessary. Clothing will be repaired or replaced on an as-needed basis, cost of which is to be paid for by the employer. The above-mentioned shall be accomplished in accordance with departmental policies. PROTECTIVE VESTS The Town will provide all sworn police officers with protective vests and replace any vest which is beyond the guarantee regardless of budget constraints. As a condition of employment, all sergeants and patrol officers shall wear the above-mentioned protective vests during all work times, unless specifically excused by the police Chief. DETECTIVE AND CSO REIMBURSEMENT Detectives shall be eligible to receive up to $1000 per year for the reimbursement of work-related clothing. Community services officers (CSOs) shall be eligible to receive up to $650 per year for the reimbursement of work-related clothing. Said amounts will be paid by separate check. DAMAGED PERSONAL PROPERTY The Town will reimburse the officer for items of authorized personal property damaged while in the performance of duties at the actual cash value of such items, except as provided below, provided their loss was not occasioned by negligence of the officer. The Town shall not be liable to pay more than $150.00 for a damaged wristwatch, and its cost for replacement of eye-glasses or contact lenses shall be limited to the reasonable costs of replacing such items. The Chief's decision to award or deny damages, as well as the amount of any damages which he may award, shall not be grievable.

The work uniform for line personnel and training staff shall consist of: Battalion Chief Officers – White work shirts with official department markings – sleeve length at member’s choice, navy blue work pants; Line Officers – Light blue work shirts with official department markings – sleeve length at member’s choice, navy blue work pants, tee-shirts (light blue, if possible, with department marking); Line Fire Fighters – Navy blue work shirts with official department markings – sleeve length at members choice; navy blue work pants, tee-shirts (navy blue with department marking); Training Staff – Light blue work shirts with official department markings – sleeve length at member’s choice, navy blue work pants. Personnel listed above may wear any combination of approved clothing at any time. However when performing public education duties or other duties where non-emergency public contact is the primary purpose, members will wear an approved “collared” shirt. All work uniforms for line personnel and training staff shall conform to NFPA Standard 1975. The work uniform for personnel in the WECC, BAMS and BFP, and Deputy Chiefs shall consist of a white uniform dress shirt with official department patch, a tie shall be worn between the dates of October 1 through April 30, and Uniform pant meeting the most recent Waterbury Fire Department Rules and Regulations specifications.
