Responsibility Outside the Bargaining Unit. When an employer temporarily assigns an employee to carry out the assigned responsibilities of a higher paying classification outside of the bargaining unit for a period in excess of one-half of one (1) shift, the employee shall receive an allowance of three dollars ($3.00) for each shift from the time of the assignment.

No pyramiding shall result from the application of this provision. The foregoing shall also apply in cases of short term leaves of absence for Union business approved by the Employer under the applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement where payment is made to the employee by the Union.
