Transfers and Seniority Outside Bargaining Unit. No employee shall be transferred to a position outside the bargaining unit without the employee's consent. If an employee is transferred to a position outside of the bargaining unit, the employee shall retain seniority acquired at the date of leaving the unit, but will not accumulate any further seniority. If such an employee later returns to the bargaining unit, the employee shall be placed in a job consistent with the employee's seniority. Such return shall not result in the layoff or bumping of an employee holding greater seniority.

If an employee is transferred to a position outside of the bargaining unit, the employee shall retain the seniority accumulated up to the date of leaving the unit, for a period not exceeding twenty-four (24) months, but will not accumulate any further seniority. If such an employee later returns to the bargaining unit, within twenty-four (24) months, the employee shall be placed in a job consistent with seniority. Such return shall not result in the layoff or bumping of an employee holding greater seniority. During this period of leave, the employee will continue to pay union dues based on the rate of pay in the new position. The Employer will continue the current practice of posting non-union positions for consideration of all employees in the Corporation. However, neither such postings nor the selection of the candidate shall be grievable by the Union or its members. During the period of leave, if the position is replaced with an employee who does not have entitlement to full-time benefits, said employee shall be immediately entitled to said benefits (i.e. No eligibility wait period) as provided to all permanent full-time employees within the Collective Agreement.
