Qualifying for Holiday Pay. (a) In order that a Regular Employee may qualify for holiday benefits the Employee must have worked the last scheduled shift prior to and the next scheduled shift following the holiday or have been on paid leave on either or both of those scheduled shifts.

Qualifying for Holiday Pay. In order to qualify for holiday pay, employees must have worked on the scheduled work day prior to the holiday and the scheduled work day immediately after the holiday, unless such absence occurs during paid leave of absence for any reason, or on approved leave of absence for union business for a period of fifteen (15) consecutive days or less.
Qualifying for Holiday Pay. All employees who qualify for pay on holidays observed by the City shall receive holiday pay provided that an employee who fails to report for a scheduled work shift on any of such holidays shall receive no pay; and provided also that in order to qualify for such paid holidays, the employee must report for work or be in an otherwise approved, paid status on both the employee’s last regular work day immediately preceding the holiday and the employee’s first regular work day following a holiday. Employees absent by reason of illness may, at the discretion of the supervisor, be required to provide a supporting statement of illness from an attending physician. Employees otherwise entitled to holiday pay but who are absent due to layoff for a period not to exceed fifteen (15) days immediately preceding the holiday shall nevertheless receive holiday pay.

Qualifying for Holiday Pay. (1) A regular employee working fifty (50) percent of fulltime or more shall be entitled to take all authorized holidays, as a holiday, not to exceed eight (8) hours for any one (1) holiday. In order for an employee to receive compensation for a holiday, the employee must be in a pay status (working, vacation, sick, leave, worker's compensation, scheduled day off) the day prior to and the day following the holiday. An employee who qualifies for pay on holidays observed by the County shall receive holiday pay, except an employee who fails to report for a scheduled work shift on any such holiday shall receive no pay.

Qualifying for Holiday Pay. In order to qualify for holiday pay or for premium pay granted in Section 14.4 employees must have worked their regularly scheduled shift immediately preceding and immediately following the holiday. Employees who on either of these days utilize regularly scheduled and authorized vacation, personal, sick, compensatory or bereavement leave shall be entitled to holiday pay or premium pay. The Department Head, however, may require that the use of sick leave immediately preceding and/or following the holiday be substantiated by medical certification to be obtained by the employee at the Employer's expense. Should a Department Head determine that an employee's record reflects a pattern of sick leave abuse then such employee may be required to substantiate the use of sick leave immediately preceding and/or following the holiday by medical certification to be obtained by the employee at his/her own expense. A pattern of abuse shall be defined as a systematic usage of sick leave by an employee. Should an employee who has exhausted all of his/her credits for vacation, personal and sick leave fail to work on the days immediately preceding and following the holiday, then such employee shall not be entitled to holiday pay or to premium pay.

For an employee working on a 4/10, 9/80 or 12-hour work day plan, holidays will be paid equivalent to the employee’s regularly scheduled work hours (e.g., 9 hours for 9- hour day or 8 hours on an 8-hour day on the 9/80 schedule, or 12 hours of holiday pay for 12-hour shift.)
