Short Term Unpaid Leaves. Upon approval of the Superintendent at least five (5) days prior to the date of the leave, a unit member may be granted an unpaid leave of absence not to exceed five (5) consecutive working days for personal reasons. In order to be eligible for this leave, the unit member must not have any accumulated and unused personal leave. The short term unpaid leave shall not be granted more than once per contract year except in unusual circumstances as determined by the Superintendent. An unpaid day may be taken without exhausting personal leave and without prior approval only when school is closed for inclement weather and/or other emergency.

Short Term Unpaid Leaves. If an employee has a personal situation (e.g. wedding, graduation) that arises and all appropriate leave has been exhausted, a request may be made in advance, subject to the approval of the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee, for not more than three (3) days of unpaid leave.

When the unpaid leave falls on either or both sides of a recess period or holiday, or is more than three (3) days, the unpaid leave must also be approved by the Administrator of Personnel. An employee must be in a paid status for one of the first four (4) working days of the month, or on an approved FMLA/OFLA leave, in order to be eligible for the District’s monthly insurance contribution. If the employee is in unpaid status for the first four (4) working days of the month, and not on an approved FMLA/OFLA leave, District benefits for that month will be at the employee’s expense should he/she wish to continue health insurance.

Short Term Unpaid Leaves. In cases not covered by any other leave provision, an employee may request an unpaid leave of absence for up to two (2) weeks in any given school year. Such requests must be submitted to the immediate supervisor at least two (2) weeks in advance of the requested leave. Approval shall be based on the operating needs of the School District. An employee on a short-term leave shall retain all benefits including insurance and seniority.

  • Short Term Leave Members who are LTD trustees and Union stewards or designates may apply in writing to the Employer for short term leaves of absence for; attendance at union conventions, union courses, and union committees. The employee will give reasonable notice, which will be at least seven (7) days. The Employer will make every reasonable effort to accommodate such leave, and shall grant it subject to the ability to maintain the operational needs of the department. With the exception of members of the Union's executive, the employer is not required to grant more than twenty (20) days LOA per calendar year under this provision.

  • Short Term Disability The Employer agrees to provide Short Term Disability benefits to all active full-time employees from the first (1st) day of an accident or the first (1st) full-time day of hospitalized or the fourth (4th) day of sickness. However, FLSA compensatory time off shall not be counted against the employee’s four (4) month (nine [9] pay period [720 hours]) family or medical leave entitlement. Therefore, any use of FLSA compensatory time off under this Section shall extend the employee’s family or medical leave by the total amount of FLSA compensatory time off used.
