Section 2. Sick Leave. The employee shall notify the Appointing Authority of any illness at or 22 before his/her normally scheduled starting time. Employees utilizing leave under this Section shall 23 furnish a statement from a medical practitioner upon the request of the Appointing Authority when 24 the Appointing Authority has reasonable cause to believe that an employee has abused or is 25 abusing sick leave. The abuse of sick leave may constitute just cause for disciplinary action. The 1 Appointing Authority may also request a statement from a medical practitioner if the Appointing 2 Authority has reason to believe the employee is not fit to work or has been exposed to a 3 contagious disease which endangers the health of other employees, clients or the public.
Section 2. Sick Leave. A. At the beginning of each school year, each full-time teacher shall be credited with twelve (12) days paid leave to be used for personal illness, disability, injury emergencies and family illness. Teachers who are less than full-time shall receive a prorated portion of the annual sick leave based upon their percentage of full-time equivalency. Unused sick leave shall accumulate to the maximum allowed by law.

Sick leave shall be earned at the rate of twelve (12) days per year for all employees based on an employee’s average regularly scheduled weekly hours. Unused sick leave may accumulate to the legal limit. The District shall project the number of annual days of sick leave at the beginning of the school year according to the estimated calendar months the employee is to work during that year. An employee’s sick leave balance will be adjusted upon separation or when an employee goes on unpaid leave if the leave is not earned. An employee shall be entitled to the projected number of days of sick leave at the beginning of the year. Sick leave benefits shall be paid on the basis of regular hourly rate applicable to the employee's normal daily work shift; provided, however, should an employee's normal daily rate or work shift increase or decrease during the school year, the sick leave benefit shall be taken at the daily rate and work shift in effect at the time of usage. The accumulated benefit will be expended on an hourly, rather than a daily basis. The District may, on occasion, require verification of the illness by a physician.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Paid Sick Leave Employees shall earn and be granted paid sick leave according to the following provisions:

  • Annual Sick Leave All full-time employees (i.e. hours per week) shall be entitled to twenty (20) days of sick leave per year. An employee joining the Board staff during the year shall be given current sick leave credits on the basis of days for each months' employment. The sick leave entitlement for part-time employees shall be according to time worked.

  • Vacation and Sick Leave At such reasonable times as the Board of Directors shall in its discretion permit, the Employee shall be entitled, without loss of pay, to absent himself voluntarily from the performance of his employment under this Agreement, with all such voluntary absences to count as vacation time; provided that:

  • Unpaid Sick Leave The City Manager shall, upon the advice and recommendation of the City physician, grant unpaid sick leave for up to one (1) year upon application of any employee whose paid sick leave is exhausted. Any extension of such leave shall be subject to the Civil Service Board rules.

  • Accrued Sick Leave The Board shall provide all employees with a cumulative record 23 of accrued sick leave hours on each pay statement.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave 16.1 Employees covered by this collective agreement will carry forward their accumulated sick leave days from the predecessor school boards to a maximum of 280 days. Effective September 1, 1999 employees (other than temporary employees) shall be credited with two (2) days of sick leave for each month of active full time service to a yearly maximum of 20 days for ten month employees. Effective September 1, 2003 100% of the unused days each year are accumulated, to a possible sick leave total of three hundred (300) days. Sick leave days will be pro-rated for part-time employment.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

  • Cumulative Sick Leave Plan Each employee shall accumulate sick leave with pay entitlement at the rate of one-half work day for each full bi-weekly pay period on paid status up to a maximum accumulation of 155 days of unused sick leave with pay entitlement.
