Extended Sick Leave. When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

Extended Sick Leave. When an employee’s salary continuation and short-term disability pay have been exhausted, the employee may request to be placed on extended sick leave if the employee continues to be unable to perform the duties of their position due to the illness or accident. Such request must be made thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of short-term disability payments. Extended sick leave may continue for up to eighteen (18) months from the employee’s last day worked. The time period may be extended by mutual agreement of the University and the POAM. If the employee is released to return to work during his/her extended sick leave, he/she will be offered the next available position for which he/she is qualified. Such position shall be equal in hours to the position previously held, unless otherwise agreed between the University, the employee, and the POAM. The University will pay the cost of COBRA medical coverage during the first twelve (12) months of extended sick leave.
Extended Sick Leave. 3.7.1 A unit member whose sick leave, including both current and accrued, has been exhausted, and, where the total of such sick leave used in a given fiscal year is less than one hundred (100) working days, shall for an extended illness be compensated at, fifty percent (50%) of his/her regular daily rate of pay for the balance of one hundred (100) days.

A classified worker on extended sick leave shall be entitled to extended sick leave pay as follows:

Extended Sick Leave. 1. An employee who remains disabled and who continues to receive temporary disability payments and who has exhausted all accrued sick leave shall receive extended sick leave payments from the University in an amount equal to the difference between the payments from Workers' Compensation and eighty percent (80%) of the basic salary plus any shift differential which the employee would have received. If such an employee returns to part-time University duties, the earnings plus any temporary disability payments, if less than eighty percent (80%) of basic salary plus shift differential, shall be supplemented to eighty percent (80%) by extended sick leave payments, provided the employee continues to be medically authorized for Workers' Compensation temporary disability. Total extended sick leave payments shall not exceed twenty-six (26) weeks for any one injury or illness. Extended sick leave constitutes an advance against permanent disability payments.
Extended Sick Leave. When a staff member’s salary continuation and short-term disability pay have been exhausted, the staff member may request to be placed on extended sick leave if the staff member continues to be unable to perform the duties of their position due to the illness or accident. Such request must be made thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of short-term disability payments. The Human Resources Office shall notify the staff member of the imminent exhaustion of short-term disability pay in time for the staff member to meet the thirty (30) day request notice as specified above. Extended sick leave may continue for up to eighteen (18) months from the staff member’s last day worked. The time period may be extended by mutual agreement of the University and the Alliance. If the staff member is released to return to work during their extended sick leave, they will be offered the next available position for which they are qualified. Such position shall be equal in hours to the position previously held, unless otherwise agreed between the University, the staff member, and the Alliance. The University will pay the cost of COBRA medical coverage during the first twelve (12) months of extended sick leave.
Extended Sick Leave. 10.3.3.1 After using all earned and accumulated sick leave, a teacher who has exhausted his or her sick leave for a single illness or accident shall have up to 100 days of extended sick leave for said illness or accident. A teacher on extended sick leave shall receive his or her own pro rata salary minus the sub dock rate, the per diem rate of a substitute teacher. (See Appendix B for appropriate sub dock rate.)
