PERSONAL AND ASSOCIATION LEAVE. A. Teachers will be allowed three (3) days leave each year for personal business reasons. These days shall be non-cumulative from year to year and will not be deducted from sick leave. However, if a personal business day(s) is not used during the school year, said day(s) shall accumulate as an additional leave day(s) under the provisions of Article 8. Absences under this section shall be for necessary business, activities or events of a personal nature related to the family, career, legal and/or financial affairs of the teacher, which cannot be handled at any other time than during the school day, and for which the teacher is not compensated in wage, salary or kind for their personal services. Only after a red flag day has been declared (a red flag day is implemented when a threshold of 25 teachers scheduled out for the day occurs), Administration reserves the right of approval for personal business day(s) used on red flag days and days that extend a recess period. Except in cases of emergency, notification of intent to use the day should be made to the direct supervisor at least five (5) days in advance. JEA members may “cash in” up to three (3) personal business days per year at the rate of $150 per day. Once the days are cashed in, they will be deducted from the teacher’s leave and not carry over as sick time.

  • Unpaid Personal Leave Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, they are entitled to take unpaid personal leave to care for members of their immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support or who require care due to an unexpected emergency. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. In the absence of agreement, the employee is entitled to take up to two days (up to a maximum of 16 hours) of unpaid leave per occasion, provided the requirements of 7.2.5(a) and 7.2.5(b) are met.

  • Personal Leaves 8.11.4.1 As approved by the Board, personal leaves without pay may be granted in cases of exceptional need for up to six (6) months. Any such leave exceeding one (1) semester shall not be counted toward tenure or promotion or for computing salary increments. Each member of the bargaining unit who is regular full-time, in an active pay status, is eligible for ten (10) days of sick leave and three (3) days of personal leave annually. No member of the bargaining unit shall lose the accumulated allowance of unused days of sick leave/personal leave by reason of having been absent for a period without pay, nor shall the employee accumulate any additional days of allowance during the absence. Faculty members needing to use sick/personal days shall fill out the requisite forms according to official College procedures.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Sick/Personal Leave Leave granted to the teacher for sick, personal or bereavement reasons.

  • Association Leave A total of 10 days of leave with pay during the current school year shall be granted the Association for use by the Association. A maximum of four additional days may be used for Association leave and the substitute’s salary will be reimbursed to the Board by the Association. The President of the Association will notify the Superintendent as to the educators and dates involved at least five (5) days before such leave is desired.
