Number of Hours. The normal work week for instructional faculty members shall be thirty-five (35) scheduled hours during the Fall and Spring semesters as shown on the administratively approved door schedule. The work week during the summer semester will vary according to the individual faculty member’s contracted guaranteed summer assignment. The door schedule shall be submitted for approval no later than the third day of the semester. After approval by the immediate supervisor, the faculty member’s schedule (Appendix B-2) for the work week shall be posted on each faculty member’s office door not later than the first day of the second week of classes. If the faculty member’s schedule changes during the semester due to the start or end of a session or any other change in schedule and that change cannot be reflected clearly on the original door schedule, then a new administratively approved work week schedule shall be posted not later than one week following the change(s). The administratively approved faculty member’s door schedule shall be the basis for all personal and sick leave. The Fall and Spring semester approved schedules of work week hours of full-time instructional faculty members shall include a combined minimum of twenty-five (25) hours per week of direct contact with students, not including any alternate assignment, and office hours scheduled at times reasonably convenient for students and clearly designated as hours during which faculty members will be available for student appointments. Up to ten (10) work week hours in Fall and Spring semesters may be used as additional office hours or may be used for other professional activities. A separate door schedule for the week of final exams shall be submitted by the faculty member for administrative approval at least one week prior to the start of exams and posted no later than the first day of final exam week.
Number of Hours. 11.1.3.3.1 Except as noted below, a full-time contract/regular unit member shall schedule and hold five (5) office hours per week. These office hours shall total 250 minutes, at least one session each day during which a teaching assignment is scheduled for that employee. Each scheduled session must be held for a minimum of 25 minutes. Exceptions to the 25- minute minimum requirement can be requested for programmatic reasons and may be granted with the approval of the appropriate administrator. Office hours may not be scheduled during class breaks or during passing times as published in the schedule of classes. In the case where a contract/regular unit member is scheduled to teach less than five (5) days per week, the five required office hours per week shall be held over a minimum of four (4) days per week. In the case where a unit member teaches an evening class as part of his/her load on the same day as he/she teaches a day class, office hours shall be scheduled that are contiguous to both the day and evening offerings. Therefore, such a unit member may hold two office hours on one day, one near the daytime class(es) and the other near the evening class(es). Evening is defined as a class that starts at or after 5 p.m. A unit member who teaches an off- campus class as part of a regular load will hold an office hour contiguous to the off-campus offering. Pursuant to this article, faculty may not be required to hold an office hour five (5) days per week. However, contract/regular faculty must attend division, department and shared governance meetings which can be scheduled Monday through Friday. 11.1.3.3.2 Contract/regular and adjunct unit members who teach less than full-time shall schedule and hold the same ratio of office hours as their teaching assignment bears to a full time assignment. Faculty with non-teaching assignments are not required to hold office hours for those assignments. 11.1.3.3.3 Regular and contract unit members who receive an overload teaching assignment shall hold prorated office hours for that assignment in addition to the those required pursuant to Article 11.1.3.3.1.

Number of Hours. At the beginning of each school year, the Union shall be credited with forty (40) hours to be used as the discretion of the Union for the purpose of conducting its duties as Exclusive Representative. The Union has the option of requesting additional hours with approval of the superintendent. The cost of the substitutes shall be paid by the Exclusive Representative.
Number of Hours a) During an academic semester, the Agency should not expect to employ the student more then 20 hours during any week in which there are classes. While the law permits exceptions to the above provided that the semester average does not exceed 20 hours per week, Harvard University students should not be employed for more then 20 hours a week without prior permission form the Work-Study Office at the University. b) During the summer vacation and other regular vacation periods, students may be employed up to but not exceeding 40 hours a week. This is not intended to limit the rights of the student or Agency in the matter of employment for additional hours or periods of time for which compensation is to be paid from sources other than Work-Study funds. c) The Agency will be responsible to certify the number of hours worked by, and amounts to be paid to, the student on a weekly basis. Institution will provide the Agency with a statement of hours worked, as reported by the student, and amounts to be paid, and an official of Agency shall certify that such hours and amounts are correct or make any needed corrections by written reply delivered to Institution not later than 12:00 p.m. on the Monday following the Friday receipt of the email.
Number of Hours. The Board shall retain the right to determine the work hours of each employee subject to the following limitations. 1. Employees whose hours are changed (reduced or increased) shall receive twenty-five (25) calendar days’ notice. When the administration determines it is necessary to change hours by more than fifteen (15) minutes, it shall give written notice of the contemplated change to the Association president prior to the implementation of the change. This timeline and notice requirements can be waived when the employee and the supervisor mutually agree to temporarily modify the employee’s work schedule. 2. Upon request of the Association, the administration will meet with the designated Association representative to discuss the effects of the change and consider any alternatives proposed by the Association. 3. No change in hours shall be made unless it is necessary to meet customer service requirements and/or to accomplish the economical and/or efficient operation of the Agency. The factors considered in changing hours shall include but not be limited to funding, changes in program and/or enrollment, availability and qualifications of personnel due to changes in program and/or enrollment. No change shall be made solely for punitive reasons. 4. If the Board reduces the hours of a position more than 10%, the affected employee, if qualified, has the right to displace the least seniored employee in the classification with up to the same number of days and hours in order to maintain his/her original hours on the greatest portion thereof. 5. Notwithstanding the above procedures, the Board will resort to layoff procedure before reducing hours where layoffs are economically and programmatically feasible.
