Department Level. If the grievance is not satisfactorily settled at Step 1, the Union may, within 5 working days after receipt of the Step 1 answer, appeal the grievance to the Department Head. The Department Head or designee shall meet with the Union (which may include the grievant and up to two other Union officials or Representatives) within 10 working days in an attempt to adjust the grievance and shall render an answer in writing stating the reasons for granting or denying the grievance within 10 working days after the Step 2, Department- level meeting. The Department Head or their designee shall notify the Union via City e- mail to the e-mail address: xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx. The City or CODE may request a reasonable extension of all timelines in this section. All extensions must be in writing, signed by both the City and CODE, specify the length of time for the extension, and shall not be unreasonably denied. Email shall suffice.

Department Level. The ten (l0) Union representatives shall be picked by the Union. There shall not be more than three Union Representatives from any one work location.
Department Level. Failing a satisfactory response in the pre-grievance step, the Union shall, by stating their case in writing, within seven (7) working days after the pre- grievance step response is received, submit the grievance to the Department Head. Department Head(s) or delegate shall arrange a grievance meeting with the Shop Xxxxxxx or Union Representative within fourteen (14) working days of when the grievance was submitted to seek settlement. The Department Head shall have seven (7) working days from the grievance meeting to investigate the matter and respond in writing with a particularized response to each specific allegation outlined in the grievance.
Department Level. The department personnel committee’s recommendations regarding retention, tenure and promotion are referred to the department chair. If the chair and department personnel committee are in agreement (either a positive or a negative recommendation), then one combined recommendation proceeds from the department to the college personnel committee and the xxxx. If there is disagreement between chair and the department personnel committee, then the chair meets with the department personnel committee in an attempt to resolve disagreement. If there is still disagreement, then both recommendations are forwarded to the college personnel committee and the xxxx. The college personnel committee shall only consider recommendations regarding tenure and promotion. Retention recommendations shall be forwarded directly to the xxxx.
Department Level. An employee having a grievance may, within the fifteen (15) days following the first occurrence giving rise to the grievance, submit the grievance in writing to the Police Chief in accordance with 5.6(3) setting forth specifically the complete facts on which the grievance is based, the specific provision or provisions of the Agreement allegedly violated, and the relief requested. The Chief or his designee and the Bureau Commander shall have a meeting with the employee, accompanied by his representative if the employee so desires, to discuss the grievance. The Chief or his designee shall communicate a decision in writing to the employee and to the representative, if any, within fifteen (15) days following receipt of the written grievance. This is the final step in an oral reprimand. The grievance shall not proceed to Step 2 until deemed to be unresolved at Step 1 upon receipt of the written decision, expiration of the fifteen (15) day response period, or a mutually agreed upon extension has been exhausted.
Department Level. If the grievance is not resolved at Step 1, the Union may submit it in writing to the Fire Chief within ten (10) working days after receipt of the decision at Step 1. The Fire Chief or his designee may have a meeting with the employee, accompanied by his representative, to discuss the grievance. The Fire Chief or his designee shall communicate a decision in writing to the employee and to the representative, within ten (10) working days following receipt of the written grievance. This is the final step in a dismissal hearing for an employee serving an initial probationary period. This is the final level for an appeal of an oral reprimand.
