Pay for Central Negotiating Committee. Union Negotiating Committee members up to a maximum of seven (7) shall be paid for time lost from their normal straight time working hours at their regular rate of pay and without loss of leave credits for attending central negotiating meetings with the Hospital Central Negotiating Committee in direct negotiations up to and including conciliation. If the parties are unable to arrive at a negotiated collective agreement through either direct negotiations or conciliation, the Hospital agrees that members of the Union Negotiating Committee shall receive unpaid leave for purpose of attending arbitration hearings.

All new employees will have the opportunity to meet with a representative of the Union in the employ of the Hospital for a period of up to minutes during the employee’s probationary period, without loss of regular earnings. The purpose of such meetingwill be to acquaint the with such representativeof the Union and the collective agreement. These interviews will be scheduled in advance and may be arranged collectively or individually by the Hospital. The Hospital and the Union agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of safety and health in the Hospital in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness. Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Hospital agrees to accept as a member of its Accident Prevention Health and Safety Committee, at least one (1) representative selected or appointed by the Union from amongst bargaining unit employees. Such Committee shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving health and safety programmes and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions related to safety and health. The Hospital agrees to co-operate reasonably in providing necessary information to enable the Committee to fulfil its functions. Meetings shall be held every second month or more frequently at the call of the chair, if required. The Committee shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review.
