Leave for Union Functions. Upon written request, subject to the requirements of the Employer, an Employee elected or appointed to represent the Union at conventions, or to attend meetings of C.U.P.E., its affiliated or chartered bodies, shall be eligible for leave of absence without pay.

Leave for Union Functions a) Upon written notice from the Union, the University grants leave without pay, to not more than one (1) Permanent full-time Employee for union service either as an employee, or in an elected position, within the Confederation des Syndicats Nationaux (CSN) or one of its affiliated bodies.

Leave for Union Functions. All Union Leave entitlements shall be granted subject to the ability of the Employer to carry out normal operations. Approval for any Union Leave will not be unreasonably denied.

Management will grant a total of thirty (30) days of leave of absence with pay per year for members of the Union to attend functions of the Union, provided such leave is requested in advance and the needs of the service will not be adversely affected by such absence. Such days shall be accumulative for the life of this Agreement, and any balance shall be carried over to a successor Agreement.

Official representatives of the Union, to a maximum of four (4), will be granted leaves of absence without pay to attend Union Conventions or perform any other function on behalf of the Union and its affiliates, providing not more than one (1) Union representative in each classification or location will be away at the same time. Exceptions to this Clause will be granted on a case-by-case basis, subject to operational requirements. Such leaves of absence shall not affect an employee’s seniority and/or benefits contained within this Agreement. Such leave shall not exceed twenty (20) work days.

Management will grant a total of six (6) days of leave of absence with pay per year for Command Unit members to attend union conventions, labor seminars, or conferences, provided such leave is requested in advance and the needs of service shall not be adversely affected by such absence. Any balance of such leave days shall be carried over to successor collective bargaining agreements. Upon a request made by the Command Unit to the Labor Relations Department, a reasonable number of additional days for leaves of absence with pay shall be granted for purposes consistent with this Section if the allotted days are exhausted.
Leave for Union Functions. (a) Representatives of the Union, after notifying their immediate supervisor, shall not suffer any loss of pay when required to leave their employment temporarily, during the day, in order to meet with representatives of the Polytechnic with respect to grievances or the operation of the Collective Agreement. In the case of interest arbitration or rights arbitration, the maximum number of representatives of the Union that shall request a leave from their employment, shall be three (3) representatives.

Employees who are designated or selected by the Association or the Kalamazoo Fraternal Order of Police to attend national and state conventions of the Fraternal Order of Police as its delegate, or to attend educational conferences or Association related matters shall be allowed time off with pay and without loss of seniority for a period of not to exceed five (5) calendar days to attend such conventions or educational conferences, provided the Public Safety Chief or designated representative is advised in writing by the Association of such intended absence at least ten (10) regularly scheduled working days prior to the start thereof, and the needs of the department will not be seriously impaired by such absence, and provided further, that no more than five (5) officers are requesting a leave at any one time for such purpose and that, unless otherwise approved by the Chief, no more than three (3) such officers would be assigned to the same shift during the period of such absence. The cumulative number of hours for which the Employer will pay one or any combination of employees under this Section during a calendar year shall not exceed a total of three hundred (300) hours. The Association may carry-over unused hours from a non- convention year into a National Convention year.
