The 'Day Employees' clause defines the terms and conditions applicable to employees who are hired to work on a daily basis rather than as permanent or long-term staff. Typically, this clause outlines the working hours, pay rates, and benefits specific to day employees, and may clarify how their employment status differs from regular employees, such as in eligibility for leave or notice periods. Its core function is to ensure clarity regarding the rights and obligations of day employees, thereby preventing misunderstandings and disputes about their employment terms.
Day Employees. If a day employee is scheduled to work more than nine and one-half (9 ½) continuous hours, the Company will provide a meal if requested. A second meal, if requested, will be provided if the employee works more than thirteen and one- half (13 ½) continuous hours. A lunch period of one-half (1/2) hour without pay will be allowed. Meals will be provided if an employee is called into work on such short notice that the employee is unable to provide their own meal. For the purpose of this Article, lunch periods shall not be considered to interrupt continuous hours.
Day Employees. (i) It may become necessary to establish regular work periods, lunch periods, and/or days off which do not conform with Article 10.

Day Employees. (a) The regular work week for day employees shall be forty (40) hours, consisting of five (5) consecutive eight (8) hour days, Monday to Friday inclusive. (b) The regular work day will be from 8:05 a.m. to 4:35 p.m. with the exception of a lunch period of one-half hour, normally from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Day Employees. (i) Day employees who are not required to work on Company Holidays will receive their normal pay for normal hours. (ii) Day employees who are required to work on Company Holidays will receive normal pay for normal hours as in a) (i) above in addition to overtime pay.

The normal schedule will be day shift, however employees may be assigned to afternoon shift with five (5) calendar days’ notice without shift change penalty. Afternoon shift assignments will follow the same sequence of days on and off. 8-hour shifts will be 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. 12-hour shifts will be 4:00 p.m. to 4:00a.m. Assignments to afternoon shift will be on a rotational basis and will not exceed three consecutive weeks.
Day Employees. (i) Where a Friday(s) off falls in an employee’s vacation period, then the employee will be allowed to take a Compensation Day(s) at a time which is mutually agreeable between the employee and the employee’s supervisor. (ii) When a Holiday falls during a day employee’s vacation, the employee will be allowed to take the Vacation Day at a time which is mutually agreeable between the employee and the employee’s supervisor. (iii) When a Day Employee selects a Single Vacation Day, said employee will not be asked nor volunteer to work overtime on the selected day. However, an employee may be asked to work in emergencies, and will not be charged with refusal if the employee declines. The employee may be asked to work days off prior to or following the single vacation day as per Article l0.07(1)(d) and (e).
Day Employees. If a holiday falls in a vacation period, no vacation pay will be allowed; but an additional day of vacation with pay shall be allowed at a time suitable to the Company or straight pay in lieu thereof.
