Chargehands. A chargehand allowance of thirty-five cents (35¢) per hour over the employee's own rate, or the highest rate supervised, whichever is greater, shall be paid to an employee appointed to this position by the Director of Municipal Operations, the City Engineer, or their appointee. Equipment Operators are not under the Chargehand's supervision.

Chargehands. The following terms are intended to communicate the intentions of the undersigned parties regarding the use of chargehands. The designated chargehands will have a regular job listed in Supplement No. 1, of the Collective Agreement. As a chargehand he is classified as a work coordinator in his respective area of employment. He has no authority to discipline employees. A Chargehand is a Union member who, under the direction of a supervisor, has been assigned the duties of relaying instructions, advising the supervisor of the progress of the work, and assisting the supervisor and crew in the common effort of maintaining the highest standards of quality and quantity of production.
Chargehands. In order to assist in clarity, the current situation related to Charge hands is outlined. Current production Senior Charge hand positions are restricted to the one per shift and relate to the Charge hand responsible for co-ordination of production movements throughout the factory. This is traditionally centred on the moulding operations, but this is not mandatory. Production Charge Hand Classification Relates Currently to 2 Additional Positions on Day Shift Only, Being Traditionally Centred on Back Plate Manufacture and Weigh-Up Operations. Charge hand or Senior Charge hand positions, as defined in the "Charge hands job description" in the Friction Materials Award (Annexure B) shall be paid the appropriate rates of pay for performing Charge hand duties, in addition to performing their normal duties. When a Charge hand, or Senior Charge hand, is absent for an extended period of time, or additional shift operation is required, flexibility is required to appoint a suitably skilled employee to the position. Appropriate pay and conditions will be applied to the temporary incumbent. When the permanent Charge hand, or Senior Charge hand, returns, or the shift discontinues, the employee temporarily fulfilling the job will return to regular duties at their normal rate of pay. Should a Charge hand or Senior Charge hand be permanently re-classified, then that classification shall remain unless the employee chooses not to continue in this position, or in case of removal from the position due to disciplinary action following the due consultative process. The Company agrees to increase the rate for a Production Charge hand employed under the Friction materials Award, to a level of 4.5% above the level 7 rates. A position of Maintenance Charge hand also exists.
Chargehands. An employee who is in charge of employees in his department and other employees directly involved in his job shall be paid basic journeyman’s rate plus a one dollar ($1.00) per hour premium. Amongst the employees capable of assuming the responsibilities of a Chargehand, the most senior will be chosen. An employee who replaces a Chargehand shall be entitled to the Chargehand premium for a minimum of eight (8) hours. No chargehand will revert back to or be reverted back by the Company to Journeyman status for the purpose of trial trips, or such like jobs or overtime. A chargehand shall have the right to revert to his former status provided he gives his ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ one week’s notice. A chargehand will be given one (1) week’s notice before being reverted to his former status provided he has been a chargehand one month. No chargehand shall be allowed to replace or work as a regular hourly rated employee or use tools of the trade. Where six (6) or more of a chargehand’s crew are working overtime, the chargehand will be offered the opportunity to work the overtime. Article DIRTY WORK When it is necessary for employees to work in dirty or oily places, such places of work will be properly cleaned before the work starts. Should not be possible or feasible, however, to properly clean such places of work so that employees are obliged to work in dirty places or in way of oil, a dirty work bonus of fifty cents per hour shall be paid. The supervisor on the job shall make the determination as to whether or not the circumstances warrant the pay of dirty work bonus. Affected employees dissatisfied with the decision of the supervisor shall perform the work in question and have the right to grieve the supervisor’s decision regarding payment of the dirty work bonus. At any time, a shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ who believes that the dirty work bonus should apply may request so from the supervisor. The supervisor must give his reply within two (2) hours. All employees on boiler work pertaining to the repair of boilers internal work on furnaces, will be given one pair of coveralls at the start of the job. In exceptionally dirty cases, two

Chargehands. In accordance with the “Mill Resumption of Operations Memorandum of Agreement” dated December 10, 2008: A designated Chargehand acting as a representative of the Company is a work coordinator and can exercise job/work direction. Chargehands do not have the right to hire, discharge or discipline employees. The Company shall have the right to select employees for the position. The Company shall post a notice of their requirement for a Chargehand in order for interested employees to signify their interest to be selected for the role. The Plant Committee and Local Union will be advised by the Company of Chargehand appointments. A Chargehand must hold a permanent job but will not necessarily fill it while performing Chargehand duties. The only premium designated Chargehands shall receive is $1 per hour in addition to their regular job rate. Any premiums being paid, in excess of this agreement, will be withdrawn effective at resumption of mill operations. None of the foregoing is intended to restrict any of the usual activities of a Chargehand as designated by the Company. Training received by a Chargehand, other than training received in accordance with divisional agreements, will not be recognized for future job postings or in the application of seniority at a reduction of forces. It is understood that Chargehands do not have priority to overtime over and above divisional overtime agreements.
Chargehands. (a) The Company and the Union agree that Chargehands will be paid according to schedule “A” in this Collective Agreement. Chargehands will only be used on the afternoon and midnight shifts. The Chargehand will by default, be appointed to the Die Room employee on-shift and will be a working chargehand. In the event of an absence of the Die Room employee, the Chargehand duties will be awarded to the most senior qualified person on- shift. A standby manager’s telephone number will be made available to the Chargehand. These employees will not be involved in any disciplinary process or action against any other bargaining unit employee. The job duties would include: • Coordination of the work on shift; • Reassign crews in the event of machine breakdown, etc; • Making minor production decision; • Support safe operating practices; • Coordinating emergency response and immediate accident investigations. (This will not include the final writing of accident reports). (b) Employees may only be assigned to a Chargehand position for off shift supervision of the plant as per (a) above, excluding the Power Engineering and Maintenance departments. The Chargehand will be paid in the same manner as defined in Article 24.04 (a). (c) Chargehands may assign work as required and shall address safety issues appropriately. Chargehands will not discipline or be involved in the discipline nor conduct surveillance on employees. Chargehands may send employees home for lack of work only upon order from a supervisor. Chargehands may note employee’s hours but prior to Chargehands providing any explanation regarding any deviation from the plant norm the employee will be allowed to provide an explanation for his/her absence or deviation in hours.

It is recognized by both parties that the chargehand system is a new way forward for our facilities. Both parties are positive that the system will provide a more effective, productive and safe manner to complete all work. It is with this in mind that the chargehands will be selected by the Company on a ratio up to one to ten employees through an application process. In the selection process, senior employees will be given first consideration. The Company maintains the right to layoff and rehire chargehands in the order that they deem necessary. Employees that are currently permanent chargehands will maintain their $0.40 per hour premium until retirement. DUTIES:
Chargehands. 22.1(a) The Company may designate employees who shall be termed Chargehands and pay these employees 5% per hour over the journeyman hourly rate. It is recognized that a Chargehand is not a classification but a premium paid to hourly employees. 22.1(b) Consideration shall be made to those with seniority to be designated Chargehands.
