Technical Staff. Regular full-time Technical Staff shall be entitled to 25 work days of vacation per calendar year, earned on the basis of 2.08 work days per calendar month for each month an employee has received at least ten (10) days pay. One technician must be present backstage at all times the main hall is in use. At least two technicians must be present before house can open for a performance. Please take the need for breaks into account while preparing your schedule. If technical crew is not able to take breaks due to work load, the cost of providing food for the technicians by CCA will be $75 per technician per meal charged to the CLIENT.
Technical Staff. A normal meal break will be of one hour’s duration for Head Technicians, Supervising technicians, Technicians, Stage hands, Projectionists and Stage door staff. In exceptional circumstances hirers will be given the opportunity to schedule half hour meal breaks. This is confined to school shows only, where the hirer must finish in time for students to be back at school by 3.30pm. In this case a penalty of double time is applicable for the missed half of the meal break. Staff are not obliged to return to work from a meal break in less than an hour at the request of a hirer. There may be exceptional circumstances, which require a reduced meal break. The supervising technician will assess the situation and guided by the GPAC meal break policy will offer an alternative to the hirer. If as a result of this consideration a meal break is reduced to a half-hour, a penalty of double time is applicable for the missed half of the meal break. Staff may elect to take a meal break less than an hour in order to alter their rostered start or finish time. This may be done in consultation with the Venue Operations Manager so long as this practice does not incur penalty payments. Unless otherwise authorised staff must take a 1 hour meal break on Sundays and public holidays.
Technical Staff. Council can book technicians through the preferred suppliers for lighting, audio and visual support for your event. Final booking times will be determined in consultation with the hirer and payment can be made with your venue hire invoice. Cancellation fees apply. Where a hirer wishes to engage an external contractor and use venue infrastructure or equipment, a venue technician must be booked to oversee and support your event. Lighting and audio equipment must be returned to the standard setting including patching, focussing of all lights and patching audio. Where a hirer wishes to bring all production equipment and technicians into the venue, this must be discussed with and approved in writing in advance by the designated Council Officer.
