In the event a non-probationary full-time Employee has exhausted all of his/her leave days and has either exhausted or has no available catastrophic leave days, as described above, Employees may make a donation of up to two (2) sick days (a one day donation at a time) to such Employee.

Sick Leave Donation for Catastrophic Illness. A unit member who has a minimum sick leave balance of 100 hours may voluntarily donate to other unit members up to five (5) days of their accumulated sick leave days per year. In no instance shall the unit member sell and/or exchange sick leave for monetary or other considerations. If a unit member wishes to donate sick leave days as stipulated above, he/she must contact the Human Resources Department to verify the number of accrued sick leave days they have available, and complete the appropriate form and submit it to the Human Resources Department in order to have the days transferred.
Sick Leave Donation for Catastrophic Illness. The City recognizes that during times of serious illness, often times an employee’s financial integrity is at risk. To enable employees to help their fellow workers suffering a catastrophic illness without a direct financial outlay, the City and the Union agree to offer a leave donation program. The program is outlined to allow full-time bargaining unit employees to donate leave from their sick account to other employees within the unit as outlined below:

In such cases, the District shall notify Bargaining Unit Members of the opportunity to donate days. Any Bargaining Unit Member willing to donate such days shall notify the personnel department at the District office no later than five

The number of donated sick days available for use by a Bargaining Unit Member per catastrophic illness shall not exceed the period of disability or the balance of the work year, whichever is less. The use and allocation of these days shall be monitored by the Communication Council. For the purpose of this section, “catastrophic illness” shall be defined as a Bargaining Unit Member’s life- threatening condition which may leave significant residual disability, including but not limited to, AIDS, major xxxxx, trauma with residual paralysis or coma, or cancer.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.

  • Sick Leave Donation In accord with state law and Medical Center policy, RN’s may donate sick leave to any employee entitled to receive such donations.

  • Catastrophic Leave Program Leave credits, as defined below, may be transferred from one or more employees to another employee, on an hour-for-hour basis, in accordance with departmental policies upon the request of both the receiving employee and the transferring employee and upon approval of the employee's appointing authority, under the following conditions:

The LMC will be to develop consistent, transparent and equitable proposals for processes across all departments within the City. The LMC shall also explore proposals to lower the minimum leave bank required to donate sick leave and permit donation of sick leave upon separation from the City. The LMC must consult with the Office of Civil Rights to ensure compliance with the City’s Race and Social Justice Initiative. Once the LMC has developed its list of proposals, the City and Coalition of City Unions agrees to reopen each contract on this subject.

  • Sickness In the event that an employee requires hospitalization or is seriously ill during his/her annual vacation period, the employee shall, upon request and upon presentation of a physician's statement, apply the period of illness or hospitalization to sick leave rather than vacation, provided the sick bank is not used. The employee must inform the College of the claim within one (1) week of returning to work.

  • Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness Leave a) Family Medical Leave or Critical Illness leaves granted to a permanent Teacher or long-term Occasional Teacher under this Article shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, as amended.

  • Family Illness The start of a family leave for a serious health condition of a family member shall begin on the date requested by the employee or designated by Management.
