Longevity Premium Pay. Unit employees, who accrue ten (10) consecutive years of service, shall receive a premium pay of three percent (3%) of their base wage. Unit employees, who accrue fifteen (15) consecutive years of service, shall receive a premium pay totaling six percent (6%) of their base wage. Unit employees, who accrue twenty (20) consecutive years of service, shall receive a premium pay totaling nine percent (9%) of their base wage. Consecutive service years include service time worked as a Per Diem, temporary, part-time, or full-time employee as long as there was no break in service greater than four (4) pay periods. Time while on protected leave(s) is considered for service credit. Per Diem, temporary, and part-time service time will not be pro-rated based on hours. The Longevity premium pay will be reported in accordance with PERS regulations section 571A. Eligible employees are required to complete and submit the required form to their respective Human Resources Department at least two (2) weeks prior to the employee’s eligible date to ensure that the premium pay is processed in a timely manner. Retroactive payments will not be processed for those forms submitted late.

Longevity Premium Pay. Upon completion of the required time of service, employees shall be entitled to longevity premium pay. Longevity shall be based on an employee's date of hire for full-time service, to become effective with the beginning of the pay period following completion of the required service time. Longevity shall be paid as per the following schedule provided that the employee has demonstrated acceptable performance as evidenced by an overall performance evaluation of “Good Work” or better utilizing the current evaluation instrument in use by the police department as of the date of this contract. Employees who are rated overall as “Learning or Must Improve” or who are on, or placed on a Performance Deficiency Notice will be compensated at the next lower longevity schedule. Upon successful completion of the requirements of the Performance Deficiency Notice or the achievement of a overall “Good Work” or better rating they shall be elevated to the usually applicable longevity schedule rate. Employees who are rated “Learning or Must Improve” shall receive a subsequent rating at the conclusion of six months from the date of the prior rating. Should the performance evaluation instrument be changed or modified during the life of this contract the City agrees to meet and confer with the Guild over the longevity eligibility applications relevant to the new rating categories. All sworn employees that have at least five (5) years of sworn work experience under Penal Code section 830.1 shall receive an additional five percent (5%) of base pay and all miscellaneous employees that have at least five (5) years of work experience in their current job classification series (i.e., Communications Officer/Dispatch professionals or Community Service Officers) shall receive an additional five (5%) of base pay. This premium will be paid for all hours in paid status similar to other Special Assignment Pay premiums. Years of prior works experience in the job classifications series from other public agencies shall be included in the calculation of five (5) years of work experience.
